Apr 20, 2020 - Getting Ready to Go

Sure enough, it was a loud weekend. I think we will park down below next time we are here. We spent the day getting things organized and loaded up. Either I am getting better at this or I have gotten rid of enough stuff, cause we have some good walk around room in the garage even loaded up. We will have to get as much done after dinner tonight as possible so we can leave by 8 AM, 2 hours earlier than our usual time. We will have to have our trailer brakes replaced on our way through Lake Havasu City. While there, I hope to get this sent...

Apr 18, 2020 - Our Last Weekend

This is our last weekend here in the campground. Normally we would be very sad to leave, but we are both looking forward to getting away from the rude obnoxious Californians and their kids. A big ole triple axle Montana pulled in last night, after dark, and began getting set up. We found out from the lady next door that they woke her up and told her to move her truck or they would do it for her. Then they shouted and banged around until well after 1:00 PM. And of course they had to drive their loud 3-seater golf cart once around. I am...

Apr 16, 2020 - Emerald Canyon

Don played Emerald Canyon golf course today, something he has been wanting to do since the first time we saw it. A beautiful course, I was looking forward to being there as well. It is a pricey little course, 18 holes of gorgeous green that wanders through the desert and volcanic rocks west of the Colorado River. Since this has been a wish, I stashed some extra bucks so we could play it this year. And it was lots of fun! Originally our friends Larry and Grace were supposed to come down and play it with us, but ended up staying home due to...

Apr 13, 2020 - No-See-Ums ?

We finally got out to play a round of golf yesterday. I took a bunch of pictures to document how the Old Guy did. His knee was better today also. Or at least it lasted longer before the pain hit! Today we went for a hike out at the Bill Williams River Wildlife Preserve. Don found an area of big red rocks that he wanted to walk around. It was an interesting walk just for the scenery. I got a few good scenery and flower pictures and one pic of a land survey marker from 1916. I also got attacked by no-seeums, and came home with welts the size...

Apr 11, 2020 - A Week

We spent the last week just hanging around the trailer. We haven’t even played golf this week. I have been trying to do something useful every day though. S far I have cleaned out 2 drawers and a cupboard, vacuumed, done laundry and begun repainting our sign on the back of the trailer. I guess the heat has caused the letters to droop enough that it was barely readable, so I am repainting the white part. Got one coat on today. I will do another coat in a couple days.

Apr 4, 2020 - Golf Again

Good day for golf today, but there were a few people on the course. I picked up a scorecard today (and reported the golf cart episode from last night) when I asked for the gate to be opened. Don did quite well, even making par on a couple of holes. I picked some fresh rosemary on the way back to our place for use in the chicken recipe for dinner tonight. Sure enough, the obnoxious group were at it again tonight, but after their third time around our area security stopped them and asked them to deist. Naturally they were unhappy, and tried...

Apr 3, 2020 - Some People

This being a weekend, the park was inundated with people from California and Arizona for recreation on the lake. Of course this meant that the park was filled and people were packed in again. Mostly people stayed to themselves, but there is always a few. We ran into a group of rude, undisciplined, entitled, smart-mouthed young teens who were circling the park in golf carts with music blaring, shouting back and forth with each other. As this was evening, and they were being way too obnoxious and disrespectful, Don and I stopped them and...

Apr 3, 2020 - Oops!

Today was another day of rest, so we tried to just hang around the trailer. Finally got cabin fever and took a drive to the Bill Williams wildlife refuge. We had been there before, but it was interesting to see changes in the terrain and surrounding areas. A nice place to hike. Unfortunately I neglected to change into hiking shoes, and I certainly did not want to walk around in the desert in flip flops. It was a nice diversion anyway.

Apr 2, 2020 - Havasu Springs Resort

After taking yesterday to relax, Don was ready to play the golf course here. It is a 9-hole, par 3 course, and last time I checked was ranked the 11th hardest in the country. His knee and back were bothering him so did not know how he would do on this course as it entails several steep hills. But he did pretty well, not counting the score he made. His very first shot was perfect, then it was downhill from there. I did not pick up a scorecard so we can just call it a practice round!

Jan 29, 2020 - Off to the River, Parker AZ

At the end of the month, January 29th, we headed off to stay at the Colorado River on the California side across from Parker, AZ. A Silent Valley friend sponsored us in as his guest at this membership river campground, Emerald Cove. It was a very windy drive all the way there. We headed east on Interstate 10 then up Hwy 95 on the California side of the river. After checking in and setting up we met with Trevor who drove us around in his golf cart to show us around this exceptionally large campground. They have a nice little “Tiki Bar”...

Apr 1, 2019 - Parker Arizona

This is a very popular pretty area that seldom has any available drive in camping sites.Since everyone is now moving out of this area, some sites have now opened up. We left site 22 in Yuma and arrived in our new site 22 here in Parker. We will be at the River Island State Park on the Colorado river for one night. It is a very short hop from Yuma, getting us back into the groove for the long driving days coming over the next week. Temp 29C Elevation 390 feet It was a great drive today,so many people leaving Yuma, we had a long line of...

Nov 16, 2018 - Van Build Party 2018

November 16, 2018 Van Build Party 2018 Ruffians, Riffraff and Foul-mouthed Hooligans. And that was just MY tribe, lol. We were some of the well-behaved ones. As in any large group of people there's always a chance that there will be some unsavory folks. This is the first time I have really experienced it on the road. There was a couple camping in a tent just down the hill from me who didn't mind fighting and screaming at night, or visiting the outhouse, aka as a scrawny creosote bush, in broad daylight right next to my friends' camper. The...
