Jul 25, 2018 - Overgaard, AZ. Summer home

It took a few days to get the utilities run and hooked up, but here we are. Had to do a lot of digging to bury everything, 3 days of it. Then call the utility co. to turn everything on, they were here in a day. So, we now have Full Hookups with 50amp service. It has been a good thing, because we have run the AC every afternoon since we got set up. It has been warm even up here at 6600 ft in elev.

Late start this year. We have Ava with us and plan to take her to Mt. Rushmore and the Black Hills. Then to Minnesota to visit family. Will only be on the road for 3 weeks. No more 5000+ miles, and 4 months from home. Guess Age is catching up with us.

We are on the road. We left home from our daughter's cabin in Overgaard,AZ. We are heading east. Not 100% sure of how far or how long we will be on the road. Our original goal is Nova Scotia. We have our daughter Ava with us and promised her she could see Ohio where Diana grew up and on to Niagara Falls. From there we will head further east and determine how far she wants to go before getting homesick. We may be homesick before her. For those of you we haven't told. We are officially homeless. Yes, sounds weird. We sold our house and...

Back to the cabin for a day. We cleaned out the MH and got a nights rest. Tomorrow it is pack the car and head for Gilbert. We are leaving the MH up north until it gets cold up here. Cheaper and easier on it than parking it in the heat. Also needs a bath real bad, which is nicer to do up here.

Jul 9, 2015 - Trip Summary

We are a little late in closing out our Journal. We have been in Overgaard for a little over a week. The kids were excited to see their parents when they came up to the cabin for the 4th of July weekend. Once the parents were there, Grandma and Grandpa didn't seem to matter any longer. It was fun to listen to them tell the tales of their vacation. The trip this summer was more to entertain the kids. It wasn't as adventurous as in the past summers. We will be heading back to the Valley to Doctor appointments and the knee surgery scheduled...

We stopped at the Four Corners, (UT.,CO.,AZ.,NM.). The kids had never been here and it has been a long time since we stopped here. What a change! Used to be a concrete slab at the end of a blacktopped road. Now it has block structures with cubicles for selling Indian Jewelry, in all four states. The blacktop road stops at the Toll Booth ($5.00 per person), and the dirt parking leaves a lot to be desired for all vehicles, not to mention motorhomes with a tow car. We drove 330 miles today to get back to Overgaard. A long day in motorhome...

6217 miles over 3 months. 12 States We will be in Overgaard for a few days. The plan is to park the motorhome at the cabin for a few weeks. We will take home what we can pack in the car and get the rest later. Again, it was a fun trip. We covered a lot of territory. The first month up the west coast gave Ava and Jay some new adventures. Riding cable cars, visiting the beach, a light house, a sea lion cave and gigantic redwood trees. Hope they have enough to write their "what I did this summer" report. We became Lewis and Clark explorers,...

Feb 26, 2014 - Bison Ranch

While checking out all of the area campgrounds, we saw a really cool shopping area called “Bison Ranch”. It is a re-creation of an “Old West Town” and looks really cool. We didn’t have time to shop there today. We were too busy checking out the campgrounds in the area, but we will definitely go back. It is located in the tall cool pines of the Mogollon Rim, another area we plan to explore. It has a lot of unique shops including a special Christmas shop and some unusual restaurants, one is called the “Wild Women Saloon and Grill”. It should...

Sep 12, 2013 - Overgaard, AZ.

It rained all night in New Mexico. Larry struggled in murky gravel to get unhooked and ready to hit the road. Our large slide would not lock. After a few attempts in the rain and lots of frustration we decided to drive to level ground and try then to get the slide locked. It worked! We drove to a Walmart parking lot and leveled the Motorhome. That was all it needed. Our next decision was if we wanted to stay another night and wait for the rain to stop, or hit the road for home. After looking at the radar we decide the rain wasn't going to...

Jun 18, 2012 - Summer Plans

This year we got a late start leaving the heat of Phoenix. We stayed for our oldest grandson's graduation and headed to Northern Arizona and stayed at our cabin for a couple weeks to get a few necessary errands done before leaving town. A few days after we were at the cabin Angie's boys (Braxton 15 and Jay 10)decided summer was boring and asked to come along. The plan is to go to Minnesota to visit family for a couple weeks. The boys will fly home July 11th and we will take off to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and explore around the...
