Jan 30, 2018 - Slowing down in the sun

Monday started slow and we did nothing to change the pace. It was kind of nice to take it easy for a change. We did a little work on our books and little more. We decided to get out to go to WalMart for a few items. On the way we decided to have lunch at Raisin Cane's. We both like this chain and the food is usually consistent. We were not disappointed and as usual we enjoyed it too much. Then we waddled into WalMart. It is a full size Super Center so we had the chance to walk some of it off. We took our few items and returned to the Bus....

Jan 28, 2018 - To Breathe or not to Breathe...or something like that

I think the biggest adjustment we have had to make to being in the desert is the dry air. We have had nothing but issues with breathing. We cannot use enough saline solution to keep our noses from feeling like sandpaper. We are now trying some stuff that comes in a tube to try and keep some moisture in our nasal passages. TMI, but it has been more than culture shock...it has been nasal shock. Needless to say some nights are hard on both of us sleeping...oh well, enough of that. We got up this morning and got around with the intent of going...

Jan 27, 2018 - Limping faster

Saturday, a day to sleep late...yeah...fat chance. My eyes popped open at 4:55 a.m. and there was no way to go back to sleep. Finally I gave up about 5:45 and got up. I came to the front of the Bus so Sue could sleep. One of us needed to do so. Anyway about 6:30 or so I dozed for a few minutes, but not many. I was able to get dressed to take Sadie out for an abbreviated morning walk. As we left I noticed water coming up around the tree on the west side of our site. As we returned, it was continuing to come out and the puddle was getting...

Jan 26, 2018 - Limited activity

Thursday was a mixed bag day. Early on I could not connect to the VPN at the bank. I was on the phone with the bank and the provider. It turned out to be a problem here in the RV park. There are apparently more cellular users than there is bandwidth. To attempt to cure that issue we decided it was time test our "WeBoost". This is a cellular booster for our cellular network. I went out to install and after getting it out of the under coach storage bin it took about 30 minutes to get it ready to attach to the coach and hook it up. But, as I...

Jan 24, 2018 - Travel Day

Up early, lots of things to do today. The Shade Pro tech was on his ladder and working on replacing the shade at 7:00 a.m.. A cool 39 degrees and dark. He had on a jacket and a lighted cap. All this done, the new awning installed and...it was cut to the wrong size. Well, they can try again. They will have to come to Casa Grande to install the new one as the campground in Quartzsite is turning over today. Everything done, everyone else that was out this morning was told bye and we headed out about 10:30. It would have been a little earlier...

Nov 3, 2017 - Casa Grande AZ

Fri, 03 Nov: Back home... We arose early and were packed and out of the room by 0645 Albuquerque time. We left the hotel and drove south on Coor's Blvd to Taco Cabaña for breakfast. From there it was a short distance to I 40 west and home. We made good time and crossed into Arizona by 0930 MST, and stopped in Show Low for lunch. We arrived back at our coach about half past three and found all in good order. It was a wonderful trip but we were very happy to be home. Even tho we took our own pillows with us being in our own Select...

Oct 6, 2017 - Casa Grande AZ

Fri, 06 Oct: Finally out of the shop and back on the road... Our visit to the Tolleson Freightliner repair facility was a mixed bag. The good news is that Carpe breezed thru her annual service in just one day. In addition to the usual routine maintenance, fluid changes, etc., we also had her serpentine belt replaced and engine coolant plus transmission fluid & filters changed. Not to forget oil change etc. for our trusty Onan generator. The next four days, however, were pretty frustrating. Tuesday morning the tech found a pinhole leak in...

Apr 5, 2017 - Casa Grande AZ

Wed, 05 Apr: ...and back home again! It seems as though we're wearing a groove in the road between Casa Grande and Greater Phoenix. Just a few weeks ago we were at a rally in Chandler, and now we find ourselves east of Scottsdale in Fort McDowell. We drove here last Sunday to be close to the Mayo Clinic. Bob had a procedure on Monday that went well, and yesterday Sandi had an appointment that went equally well. We think we're finished with Mayo till fall, but one never knows. Hence, today was a travel day. We arose when we arose and got...

Apr 4, 2017 - Winter in Arizona

WINTER IN ARIZONA (PHOENIX/MESA AND CASA GRANDE) As we left Colorado, our plan was to be in Albuquerque in time for The Annual International Balloon Fiesta in early October, our second visit to this colorful, uplifting event. We stopped at a favorite RV park in Gallup, New Mexico for a few days on our way to Albuquerque. The next morning a neighbor knocked on our door with information that would change our schedule. Did we know that we had some roof damage? Oh Oh, no, it was news to us. We are careful whenever we are under way to avoid...

Mar 25, 2017 - Casa Grande AZ

Sat, 25 Mar: Back home again, again... Today we departed the Pima County Fairgrounds and returned "home". As before we took I 10 west except, before we hopped on I 8 west we continued into Casa Grande for a fuel stop at Sam's Club. We added 37.9 gal of fresh fuel to the tank. The tank had been filled last Sep before we left so fresh fuel is good. Even with stabilizer we like the fresh stuff for our big "gal" Carpe Diem. When we arrived the fuel station was full, so we took the path of least resistance, parking the coach and doing some...

Mar 11, 2017 - Casa Grande AZ

Sat, 11 Mar: Back home again... This morning we got Carpes ready for the road. We were parked in pretty close but folks kept leaving so we were pretty much all alone and had no problem hooking up the car and driving straight out. We got underway at 0915 and made our way south on Maricopa Hwy to Queen Creek Rd. We planned to turn left, head east to I 10, and return home via that route. But, it turns out that one cannot turn left on Queen Creek so we continued on Maricopa, thru the town of Maricopa, to Casa Grande Hwy and the back way to the...

Feb 23, 2017 - Moving on to Casa Grande

After a month in Yuma it was time to move on to slightly higher elevation and a little cooler (although still pretty temperate. Casa Grande is located about half way between Phoenix and Tucson. The first day we set up the RV and immediately drove down to Tucson to have dinner and drinks with Bart Marcy (friend from way back). One highlight was his clown contraption that he controlled while Patti wore the face mask. We went to another RV show in Phoenix a couple of days later and then on to the Casa Grande ruins (built in the late 1300s it...
