May 1, 2020 - Surprise

We found out yesterday that our Yellowstone work is a go, but we have to be there early to quarantine for 14 days before we can start to work. Our plan is to leave on the second, so of course we have a problem with the water today. We noticed a leak while we were having coffee on the patio (the only time when it is cool enough to sit outside.) When Don checked, he determined that the hot water heater by-pass valve was the problem. He found a crack in the valve so off he went to pick up a new one. Naturally there wasn’t one in town, so he...

Apr 30, 2020 - It's a Go

We heard from Sheila last night. Rainbow Point campground is set to open on May 21st. We had planned to leave fairly soon just to get out of this heat, but now we have to go to get up there in time to do a 14-day quarantine before we can work. So we are finishing up bits and pieces, and plan to leave here on Saturday. Slow-cooked fajitas tonight for dinner, a la Scott Jones.

Apr 28, 2020 - Another Drive

We went grocery shopping yesterday. Actually went to Walmart, and it wasn’t too bad. We managed to spend quite a bit getting stocked up again on TP, paper towels, paper plates, some food and of course supplies for 5 o’clock somewhere. And we actually found bottled water at 2 cases for $5.00 yippee! I was looking for some planked salmon, but no luck there. Today we did a video call on Zoom. This was a new thing for me, but I got it up and running in time for our appointment with Don’s insurance agent. I don’t think I am really getting better...

Apr 25, 2020 - Safe at Home

We are spending our time doing little things around home that needed to be attended to. I am still cleaning and rearranging cupboards. Got laundry done again. And we have our happy hour by ourselves outside in the shade every day at 5 o’clock. Don went out to film a huge C5A transport that was doing touch and go at the airport across from us. That was interesting to watch. And I have to say that I am not in the least bit upset about the lack of regular flights going in and out. We are living in a dark airconditioned box for this week as the...

Apr 21, 2020 - Move to Ridgeview

We had made an appointment a couple weeks ago to get our trailer brakes replaced on our way through Lake Havasu City. Started at 9:00 AM. And boy did that turn out to be a looooong day! First thing they did (which we didn’t know until later that afternoon) was move our trailer into the garage . That is all well and good, but we have a hitch with a catch plate, used for a specific type of hitch, which they did not use. We were in shock when we saw the mangled catch plate. Fortunately they replaced it with a brand new one. Whew! Unfortunately...

Mar 9, 2020 - Mountain Climbing in AZ

Back in 2012 I did an entry on hiking in Golden Valley, and today we're doing another one... This time on the opposite side of the highway. This time around, I'll have the pleasure of Cindy's company! Between working some physically demanding jobs, and hitting the gym for the last year or so, she's ready for some climbing action. It's a good idea to start of slowly when hiking for the first time in a while, but, uhhhh we're not doing that, (Sorry Cindy, LOL!). She didn't know it, but I was taking her on a 14mi round trip hike, that...

Nov 18, 2018 - Journeys end...

Sorry for the long time between updates. Let me bring you up to speed in what has been happening to us. In mid September we spent a week in Hemet Ca. We went there to visit our friends Glyn and Ethel Scott. We met Glyn and Ethel on the caravan we took to Alaska in 2015. Ethel is recovering from a fall earlier this summer. So far things seems to be progressing well for her. We had a good time visiting during our stay. We had a chance to do some 'touring' of the Southern California area. Glyn took us to check out four military FamCamps in the...

Oct 14, 2018 - Bye, Bye Boise

After spending more than a month in Boise, it was time to say goodbye and move on down the road. It took us a couple of weeks after the wedding to get over the emotional let down but it helped that we were able to spend time with Kristine and Steve and Steve’s parents, Jim and Nina. Ed continued to play pickle ball several times a week and I think that is good for him. We took some drives to see more of beautiful Idaho, especially since the trees were turning and the colors were gorgeous. We went to an outdoor concert at the Botanical...

May 23, 2018 - Casino Night

This morning we drove back to Havasu City to the dermatologist to get my stitches taken out. While I am really glad to get them out, now I will have to start working on scar reduction. Afterwards we went to El Pollo Loco for lunch. It took a bit of convincing to get Don to stop there, but we were both pleasantly surprised to find that it was really good. Don even said it may be his new favorite fast food place. “Better than Burger King” I asked? And he said it was. Hooray! This evening we went to the casino for a complimentary dinner at the...

May 21, 2018 - Back to the RV

On Monday we drove back home to the kitty. On the way back we drove through Sun City West to visit with Shirleyann, a friend from Pagosa. We had worked together in the nursing home in Pagosa. She and her husband moved to Surprise a couple years after we went full time. We visited with them there, then after her husband passed away she moved to Sun City West. She has been there for a couple of years now, so it was fun to finally get to visit her. We also visited Bill and Vickie, sister and brother in law from Don’s first marriage. They have...

May 20, 2018 - Mike and Jan

After breakfast this morning, we went to the home and garden show. It was quite large and we spent an enjoyable several hours walking around checking out the various booths. Don ate his way around the show, sampling all the chocolate the vendors had out at their booth. We laughed a lot, bought a few things, went through some RVs on display and generally had a good time. Afterwards they took us downtown, on Whiskey Row, for a light lunch. Yesterday we had made plans to have dinner with Mike and Jan at their place. It was fun to see all the...
