The next morning we drove back to Anchorage, to pack our stuff and get ready to fly home. BUT we would be remiss if we did not show you the pictures of Wal-Mike's, where we stopped on our way back thanks to a tip from RoadsideAmerica.com. Wal-Mike's needs to be seen to be believed. There truly isn't a place like it anywhere on earth. It's filled floor to ceiling with all kinds of junk, and most of it is for sale. Jun 28, 2006 - Talkeetna, Alaska

During our visit with the Summer family, Bob mentioned that we should stop at Talkeetna. Since it is not on the Parks Highway, we might have just drove by it without giving it a second thought. Talkeetna is where the aviation and supply base for Mt. McKinley climbing expeditions is located. Bob figured I would like this quaint Alaskan town, and he was correct.
