Sep 10, 2005 - We're still updating

Saturday 3rd Sept Here's how easy it is to lose track of time when on vacation. When we were leaving we tried to give our postcards to the cleaner at the post office to send off for us. Can you believe it? Anyway, no-one seems to be up early in this state. You could shoot a gun down the main street and not hit anyone. Anyway, continuing on our journey. Making our way to Denali Nat Park. Got the visitor ctr about lunch time and stuffed around looking at the displays etc and then found out that you can drive yourself for the first 15 miles...

Aug 10, 2005 - Denali II

Wednesday, Aug 10 This is the life! Here we sit, after a nice chicken and stuffing dinner in a campground, at Denali with the spruce all around us. Well, actually at this moment, the men are not doing so - they just began changing oil in the 2 trucks. They were going to have it done in Fairbanks, but it was going to cost about $100. at the Ford garage. They bought filters and oil and decided to do it themselves. When they are done we will be walking down to the river near-by before bedtime. This morning we had planned to hike up onto Mount...

We left Fairbanks for Denali. Denali is on the way to Anchorage. It is the closest to Mt. McKinley. Mt.Mckinley is the highest point in North America. When we arrived everyone told us we would be lucky to see it, because rarely does anyone get to see it. It is usually fogged in. Well, we were blessed and the sun shone and it was clear and we did get see the mountain. It is really looks like whipped cream in a way. It is all covered with snow and Ice and when you can see it , it is like a cloud. Our campground was right on the river. We...

Jul 31, 2005 - Denali National Park

July 31 - Denali National Park This is the reason a lot of people come to Alaska. Mt. McKinley (or Denali) is the highest mountain in North America and it is located in the Park. Only thing is, that the best view of the mountain is from about 100 miles South on the highway from here. You can take a bus ride into the Park, but you have to go about 60 miles before you can see the mountain. The main purpose of the Park is to preserve the wildlife. It is actually a long valley going about 90 miles West from the park entrance and is perfect...

Jul 10, 2005 - Our Trip To Denali

Hey . . . We are back online ! I'm so glad most of the private RV parks have internet access - but no such luck in Denali Park. Eric and I organized things to fit our daughter into the trailer on Friday, and I stocked up on quick cooking, camping type foods. I helped Lara pick out the kinds of clothes she would need and start the packing Friday evening. We put up the awning and emptied the holding tanks, flushing them out....all those pre-unhooking jobs we could do a day before leaving. Saturday morning I drove over to pick up Lara, while...
