Wednesday, August 12, 2015 Kotzebue is an Inupiaq Native Village. Years ago the Federal government wanted to put all the Natives on reservations. Knowing what had happened to the American Indian, the Natives refused. Instead they set up Corporations. Each tribe became a corporation. The corporation owns the land. The corporations buy other companies (shippng,lumber,construction, etc). The Native way of life is a communal one and everything is shared. Not all of the corporations were successful. Some listened to outsiders and went broke...
