Waiting in the airport for the flight to Sumburgh, I notice a curious sign: "Thinking of taking drugs to Shetland? Think again." Actually I hadn't, but now that you mention it my throaty is a bit tickly and there is a Boots nearby. Shetland has a reputation as a 'soft port' because it is a place where one country slides into others and boats to Iceland and Norway are just a hop from the plane. Shetlanders talk about 'going down to Scotland' like it's a foreign country.When we do touchdown in Sumburgh, I notice a lot Gore-Tex and binoculars...
