We got back to Edinburgh late after taking a tour of for castles in the highlands. I wish I could post all the pics. The fist castle pictures are from a castle that was used in Downton Abbey many times in the first season. We saw many Lochs and four castles in all. It w a s a long but fun day. The weather they has been fabulous. That has changed today with wind and rain. We were supposed to go to a highland games by train 2 hours away. May 18, 2015 - Luss

Friday: The North Yorkshire Dales. We set out after breakfast to Appleby-in-Westmorland, then through Brough to Kirkby Stephen. From here we were able to make the ascent to the top of the fells and over into the head of Birkdale. This high country was vastly different from anything else – stark and desolate as far as the eye could see in every direction yet beautiful in its own way. Sep 22, 2011 - Loch Lomond

Later this same day...we took the low road and here we are on the bonney bonney banks of Loch Lomond. As in the song indeed they are so bonney. Staying at The Lodge On Loch Lomond our room is right on the western shore facing the long beautiful western shore and horizon. It is 730 evening and a quiet peaceful dusk has settled on the long still waters of the marvellous loch. This is a smallish lodge quite like those we have on lakes in B.C.
