After a nice breakfast at the B&B we headed back to Huntly Castle. The estate sits right on the edge of town, backing onto the river with the Castle Hotel hidden behind it on the other side of the river. Huntly Castle, and later Huntly Lodge (now the Castle Hotel) was the ancestral home of the Gordon clan. This is one of Dan's family connections to Scotland as his grandfather's mother came from the Gordon clan (her mother was a Gordon). Nov 28, 2005 - Castles of Aberdeenshire

At the end of November Patrick and I took a weekend away up near Aberdeen, but I didn't get around to posting an entry...this is a catch-up entry - better late than never! I wouldn't say this was a whirlwind trip, only because its hard to imagine you're in a whirlwind when driving skinny country roads that twist and turn so much its hard to crack the speed limit. I think we put about 550 miles on our rented car, but when you look at the map, it doesn't look like we traveled all that far. This is one of the miracles of Scotland - tricky...
