Upon leaving beautiful Ullapool we travelled along the length of Loch Broom before arriving at the very impressive Corrieshalloch Gorge. A viewing platform over the gorge is poised above a tremendous chasm, the Falls of Measach and a rushing river are seen in the gloomy depths far below. The gorge is not for the faint hearted, given the drop below, however it is spectacular - we have not seen anything quite like this. From here we travelled in a westerly direction bound for Gairloch along a single lane highway with frequent passing bays...

May 9, 2014 - Gairloch

Yesterday we left Kinloch campground and parked in Dunvegan village while we did the “Two Churches Walk” – about an hour from the ruins of St Mary’s Church, up to the Duirinish Stone which was erected by old-fashioned manpower by locals to mark the Millenium, then across moorland and through woods to return to the new parish Church. It was a lovely walk. We then drove three hours to Gailoch through more beautiful country with many sections of the road being one way with passing places. We arrived at Gairloch Caravan & Camping Holiday Park...
