This is also a privately owned castle, but is open to the public. It is also situated on a small island, but is now connected to the mainland by a narrow bridge. The first castle was built here in the 13th Century. The castle changed form over the centuries, including new works in the 15th, 16th, and 17th Centuries. However the castle was almost completely destroyed in 1719 in the Jaccobite Uprising. The English used 343 kegs of gunpowder to reduce the castle to rubble.
