May 29, 2007 - Scotland.. Doune & Sterling Castles, Wallace's and Mel

Today b'fast in the condo. These eggs do not need to be in the refrigerator and the bananas are from Cameroon. Leave at 9:30 cause yesterday was a long one. First stop Doune Castle. This National Landmark was privately owned when Monty Python and the Holy Grail was filmed here. When I learned of this I got excited and the woman in the gift shop/office kept showing me more movie memorabilia and finally let me borrow their coconut halves so that my tour of castle would be complete. If you want to know how coconuts get to England well the...

May 27, 2007 - Belfast to Stranraer Scotland

We get up early to be in the lobby and call for a cab but because it is Sunday 6:45 he is there in seconds. The short ride over to the ferry terminal and soon we are passing through an airport type security and onto the largest high speed ferry in operation (their words). With 4 jets pushing, it even sounds like a jet on the stern. Inside it is huge with movie areas and food courts. It feels more like a cruise ship than a ferry. In the 2 hrs it takes I say goodbye to Ireland and watch the shore go by. We even pass the boatyard used to build...

May 24, 2007 - Best of Auld Reekie

Edinburgh truly is a beautiful little city and I'm glad we lived here over the past two and a bit years. I walk to work some days, and the age of the stones and the history that echoes through the streets still manages to seduce me. Living in a city always gives you a few favourites, and here are a few of mine. Best Potato - The Baked Potato Shop (56 Cockburn Street - just off the Royal Mile near the Starbucks closest to the castle) I love this place and will seriously miss it when we leave. It caters to vegetarians and vegans, and only...

Aug 31, 2006 - Visiting Leesa and Andrew at Blackford near Stirling.

Good day to you all, I went over to Blackford today to visit my cousin Leesa, her husband Andrew and their two delightful boys Archie and Cameron. The trip over was through some of the most beautiful scenery you could possible wish for. THe hay is ripe and yellow, the fields for the sheep and cattle are a rich green, the hills rise to the west and Loch Leven is nestled in the middle. There are also fields of vegetables and small farm houses with brighly coloures gardens are dotted along the windy country road. As I took the first photo on...

Jun 26, 2006 - Day Six of the Road Trip - Carlisle to Stirling

Day Six - Carlisle (Eng) to Stirling (Scotland) What a beautiful day we had in Scotland...we thought it was going to be rather cold. We took off early this morning and headed into Scotland and its beautiful scernery, stopping off at many places along the way (to have a look around, as well as to ask for directions before Keith goes crazy at the lack of signs and directions they provide). Stopping off in Glasgow for a look and then heading to Loch Lomond (huge and cold) Keith did have to go in and do a few laps, I put my feet in and that was...
