After another hearty English breakfast for Dan and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for Leah we ventured into the tourist strip of Whitby looking forward to taking the 10.15am sail on Captain Cooks sailing ship. After waiting until 10.30am, the captain finally arrived to inform us that they weren't ready to leave until 11am! Some very unhappy tourists.......including us. Took the 199 steps of church stairs up to St Mary's Church and it's spooky graveyard then onto the ruined Whitby Abbey for some amazing photo shots. Next stop was unknown,...

Jul 16, 2009 - So That's a National Park!

Foiled by a sudden rush of enthusiasm from the masses wishing to visit Aberdeen, we are unable to procure passage to the very same town in order to be shipped to the Shetland Islands as planned. Not to worry. A little jiggling on the Excel spread sheet and like magic that journey is re-programmed for August when we return to partake in a spot of the Edinburgh Festival fun.
