Firstly I should take back what I said about Basil yesterday - he is really quite friendly and chatty. And he didn't seem too fussed that C set the smoke detector off at 7:30 this morning. No, she wasn't smoking, or burning incense! She was trying to have a shower. It was a complex mechanism that even J couldn't master. Jun 6, 2017 - Basil is alive and well

Woke to no sound of rain! Well it was overcast and a very light drizzle. We got ourselves ready and did the required tidy up of the cottage. We farewelled Anna and headed out to visit the castle at Sizergh about 20 mins away. By the time we arrived the rain had subsided to annoying and cold occasional droplets - big enough to soak straight through to your scalp! So jackets were employed and we booked our tickets and discovered that we couldn't view the castle interior until 12 unless we booked the 11 am tour (extra £1 each!) so we did. It...
