Aug 10, 2015 - Reigate

Monday August 10 After breakfast Barry drove us Redhill railway station (about two miles away) where we took the train into London for the day. Earlier, we had booked tickets online for an exhibition at the Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace, called Art in the Garden. We disembarked at Victoria Station, then walked towards Buckingham Palace, stopping for breakfast/brunch at a small restaurant. We then picked up our tickets at the Gallery and went for a walk around St. Jame's Park. It was a cloudy but warm day, threatening rain. At 1:15...

Sunday August 9 After a fairly late breakfast, Gary and I went out for a day at the RHS Wisley Gardens. The weather was sunny and warm -- probably the best weather of the five weeks. We had a lovely time walking around the gardens. We ate lunch at the Taste of Wisley Food Hall, eating outdoors under shade umbrellas. After lunch, we walked through the Wild Garden to the Glasshouse and then meandered back through the gardens to leave. Back at Judy and Barry's home, we began dinner outdoors with a drink while Barry cooked kabobs on an...

Saturday August 8 After leaving the hotel in the morning, we drove towards Chichester to meet Gary's Uncle Ron, cousin Judy and husband Barry for lunch. En route, we stopped at Stansted Park for walk around the garden centre and walled gardens. This was somewhere that we had not been to before and may possibly visit again. At noon, we drove to the Horse and Groom pub in East Ashling, just outside of Chichester, for lunch. It was nice to see Ron again, but he is much frailer than last time we saw him -- he will have his 95th birthday in...

Saturday April 19 (part 2) After leaving Judy, Barry and Ron at the Horse and Groom, we stopped for a walk at the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum in West Sussex. As it was Easter Weekend, there were lots of visitors and lots of activities. The museum comprises a 45 acre site to which 50 historic buildings have been moved, representing farms and workplaces from the southeast of England over the past 500 years. There are also period gardens and a stable yard. The site was recently used for part of the filming of a BBC TV series called The...

Apr 4, 2008 - Reigate

After picking up the rental car, we were on our way to visit Judy (Gary’s cousin) and Barry (her husband) for morning coffee. We didn't stay a long time with Judy and Barry because we had planned a lunch in Chichester with Ron (Gary's uncle) and Peggy.
