It was forecast to be quite a good day, but everything is relative so we decided to head to Dartmoor a great expanse of wilderness. However before we got on to the moor we stopped at Totnes which sits on the west bank of the River Dart. We discovered a rather nice market town and enjoyed a wander through the streets in the sunshine. The prosperity of the town dates back to the 16th century when Totnes as an inland port exported cloth to France and bought back wine. Many of the building in the town reflect this period.
