Our last day in Cumbria! To make the most of it, we decided to head back down to the Lakes again, but this time heading further west to see Buttermere and the mountains. Mark told us we couldn’t leave without visiting this area and continuing on to the ocean. Honister Pass is a steep, winding road between craggy mountains littered with shale. There’s a slate mine nearby which is also a tourist attraction. We drove through here with our mouths open. Jun 22, 2007 - Train to Northern England

Check out of Sloane Gardens and take train to England's Lake District. Visit the Senhouse Museum (of Roman antiquities) in Maryport and stay at Armidale Cottage overnight. We will search for any remaining Senhouses in the area as they would be Muriel's long-lost relatives. Perhaps rent a car or jump back on the train to visit her ancestors' graves in nearby Carlisle.
