Jun 23, 2019 - Seabrooke (51.84749N -0.64434W)

Saturday afternoon was the Village fete - we spotted the poster on Friday and decided to stay another day to go and have a gander. They had a lovely sunny day for it and it was a real country fair. Lots of old games for the kids. Of course, the best thing about it was the old cars!!! Anyway, half an hour walk around covered it and we were back to the boat. As we left the mooring this morning we met an Australian couple on bicycles - here visiting relatives and using their bikes whilst the rellies went to Church. We past a farm...

Jun 21, 2019 - Disappointed (Slapton)

We deliberately decided to stop at Slapton as we had read in our canal guide that the great pub had a Bar Billiards Table, so Tony wanted to have a game. Imagine our disappointment when we discovered that it had closed down. So we wandered around the village and checked out the Church along with the sheep that are keeping the grass down. As we were walking around the village we came across these houses being built and spotted the ready made chimneypots waiting to be put on the roofs. We passed this boat in a marina this morning...

Jun 19, 2019 - Inclement weather

This pic was taken just before we went to bed after our dinner the other night at the pub. We made our way to Leighton Buzzard yesterday, hoping to make it before the forcast "torrential rain, thundertorms and lightning" were upon us. We managed to find a mooring and got the wheel house back together just before the rain began, although there was no thunderstorms. Our walk today took us to some nearby parkland and lake - the ducklings were too cosy to even move as we walked by. I spent most of the afternoon finishing off my Christmas...

May 20, 2019 - Another 7 locks today

We moved on again today as we had been told that the Canal & River Trust were closing one of the locks we needed to pass through all day tomorrow. So we are a bit weary after 7 locks. As we were puddling along we came upon this clever boat. I spotted the Lion on the hillside which belongs to Whipsnade Zoo which has been there since 1933 and had been deteriorating and covered with weeds, so they cleaned it up and added 800 tonnes of chalk from beneath a local residents house (they were having excavation work done under their house and...
