Day 9 Lockholme B & B Kirkby Stephen to Butt House in Keld 14 miles To-day was to be my first time back in Swaledale since my sons Paul and Glen stayed in a holiday cottage in nearby Gunnerside in April 2017. I left the excellent B & B to the South of the town walking to the centre noticing my very good friends Annamiek and Jets car was still parked outside their hotel, their flight from Manchester being early afternoon I felt sure they would get off ok. May 16, 2014 - bogg walking

Absolutely gorgeous day today. Kirkby Stephen is a cute place, B&B very nice, finally a bath tub to soak our feet in. Hiked to the 9 standards, a nice hike up to the 9 standards, they are 9 man made rock towers about 10 ft tall on the top of the mountain, no one knows who made them but they look just like all the rock work we have seen over here, they all go in the direction north to south, quite ingenious to help people figure out the directions. May 15, 2014 - don't listen to men in bar

B & B above a bar last night, quite convenient actually, dinner was good, we all seemed to have a restless sleep but rested when we woke up.The local men in the pub said it was supposed to be a good today,not. Headed to breakfast around 8 then set of in the rain around 9. Today we walked the moors,in a couple of weeks the Heather would be in full bloom, that would have been so nice, instead we walked through brown Heather and boggy land. The hills were easy .
