From our mooring spot on the Droitwich Barge Canal it didn’t take long to reach the River Severn the next morning then we were then back on familiar territory. By this time we had become pretty chummy with the people on a boat that had followed us down the Droitwich Canal and we went in tandem in the next couple of locks and again in the huge Holt Lock, once we were back on the Severn. Dateline: Kidderminster The morning brought a decision-making time for us. Essentially, the day before as we were ‘rushed’ out of the Stourport Boat Basin, we had just gone along with the direction our on-board trainer took us. We had been informed that a land-slide had caused problems up ahead that meant passing through a particular part of the Staffs & Worcs Canal could only be traversed at certain times. Jul 3, 2015 - Stoke-on-Trent to Kidderminster

100km today. A fine sunny day. Mostly along canals again, about 9km on grass. The non-canal bits were on country roads and the South Staffordshire railway walk (rail trail). Today, the Canals were much more picturesque than yesterday and the barriers cycle touring friendly. Since Lancaster, about 300km, we have done a lot of canalside riding on tow paths.
