Jul 31, 2017 - Hadrian's Wall & On to Scotland
Hadrian's Wall was built across the Roman province of Britannia during the reign of Emperor Hadrian starting in 122 AD. It ran east-west for 73 miles across the entire island and was intended as a defensive fortification against the Picts to the north. The wall was 6 feet wide and 16 to 20 feet high. There were Roman forts roughly every 5 miles and each fort had 500 cavalry troops. Aug 12, 2007 - Another day in the rain...
What a surprise! We woke up in Scotland to another day of rain. But it didn't stop these two intrepid Aussies. We got up extra early and headed of for a tour around Loch Ness. When we discussed it with some locals the night before, they all thought we were nuts. Apparently its meant to be a long way to drive. Huh, we aussies laugh at such distance!!! So around the loch we went. No sign of Nessie but we did head up the B roads on the eastern side to check out the marathon course that Rach is going to run in a couple of months.
