Jun 20, 2016 - Somewhere in the North Sea

Pouring rain. Today is all day at sea. We are somewhere between Harwich and Edinburg. We were good and went to the fitness room. I worked on inclines as in a few days we have a 1 mile steep walk up a mountain. We went to the cooking demonstration and played trivia! We teamed up with a couple from England and we missed winning by 1/2 point...Do you know what 3 colors don't rhyme with any thing? How about how many noses a slug has? Salsa dance lessons...Verne was a sport. His comment was white men can't dance, I tell him that all the time!

Jun 19, 2016 - Not Even One Photo Today

Arrived at the ship in less than 2 hours. We knew our cabin would not be ready for 2 hours but Verne was hoping we would have access to the laundry mat. No such luck so he got to carry around the duffle bag full of dirty clothes! They were serving lunch...all I can say is there are too many deserts! Our cabin was ready early but we went to the laundry even before we went to our room. We thought since it was the first day of the cruise it would be the best day. Well seems anyone who spent a few days in London was doing laundry! Must admit it...

Apr 15, 2013 - Now Meet 'DORIS'

When we had a motorhome some twenty years ago we found that once you set up on site you don't want to be moving it. This can be a pain if your site is out of town or you need to pop out to the shop for provisions. Elsie has a bike rack fitted on the rear which is OK for some occasions but we wanted something a bit more. I didn't want to tow a car behind so decided that a motor scooter would be our best option. I had hoped to fit a rack to the back of Elsie but this would have overloaded the rear axle so the answer was to fit a tow bar and...

TRAVELS WITH ELSIE

Jun 28, 2012 - In the UK

Everything was really wonderfully smooth as far as the ferry experience was concerned. A great was to cross. We went to the buffet breakfast, then did a scavenger hunt that Jen and Elena made up last night. (They had gone to one the ship sponsored, but didn't like it because it was run by an annoying little pirate whom they spent the whole time trying to hide from.) Then we got everything packed up and waited until it was time to disembark at 1:00 Danish time - Noon local time. The car turned out to be a pain. We had arranged to pick up a...

Aug 30, 2011 - Harwich to Bath

After a pleasant but speedy breakfast aboard we grabbed our bags, flipped them on our backs and headed down the stairs towards the gangway. I never knew that ships truly called it a gangway til I saw the sign. We had our second “we're so glad we packed light” moment when we noted a few Americans debating the best way to push their overpacked luggage cart through the narrow hallway. Then it was through customs – where we noticed a pamphlet published by British Immigration hilariously titled “How to Complain”. Our customs gentleman fancied...

Jun 7, 2010 - Goodbye Blighty!

The Dog Blog Chapter 1 Blimey what a day. Started off by saying goodbye to that nice Jill and Sean who had put us up for a couple of days while we were back in York, but then it was straight to the vet. Bit of a disappointment to see that it wasn't the pretty blonde young lady vet who I normally get, but some grumpy old geezer. On the bright side there was no sharp spikey things stuck in me anywhere, and the thermometer didn't go anywhere it shouldn't. Totally confused the old boy as he wasn't sure what to give me for my tapeworm treatment...

Sep 6, 1976 - Harwich to London

I didn't get up till after nine - a real luxury. Went for breakfast by myself as Ian had already had his. Then went to change my money and bough a couple of things in the duty free shop. I found Ian with the others in the bar and spent the rest of the time there until the ferry docked at 12.30pm. We went through Immigration and Customs and onto the London train. It was a nice trip to Liverpool Street Station where we said goodbye to everyone and caught a txi to London Walkabout Club with Cliff and Trevor. Then after checking in we spent...
