What a full weekend, starting with Robert’s arrival Friday afternoon. Once again Helen was the chauffeur and stood at arrivals with his name on a board – perhaps she was afraid he wouldn’t recognize his only sister. They picked me up for lunch and we had a good chat to get caught up on the news. Our friend and host, Carole, made a lovely dinner of salmon fillets and mixed vegetables, but after a long afternoon nap, Robert was more in the mood for a bowl of cereal. It was electrifying all right – I felt 220 volts career through me when I accidentally touched the prongs of the electrical plug while pulling it out of the power bar. And now I have a red scar on my finger as a reminder. Not something I’ll do again any time soon. But I’m getting ahead of myself as that happened Tuesday morning and I haven’t told you about Saturday yet. Aug 29, 2011 - The final chapter
The trip is coming to an end. The summer sabbatical is almost over. We had less than 48 hours in the UK and squeezed a lot into a small space. Paul Edge picked us up at Terminal 5 and brought us back to their place with just enough time to get ready for a party. Our good friends Bob, Karen, Dave and Julie were coming for dinner. Yippee.
