Dartmouth is a charming town on the mouth of the Dart River and the English Channel. It has a castle at the mouth & the Channel. Exploration is scheduled. Today's adventure will be Totnes, a small town up up the river in the hills.But, due to geography, a river valley, getting there was part of the adventure. Starting off with a short ferry ride across the Dart to get catch a steam engine train up a hill to a double decker bus that drove the winding narrow roads further as an amusement park ride as we climbed higher. Sep 30, 2012 - Wark along the coast to Dartmouth

We had moved base to just outside Torquay, Devon in the "English Riviera" for a week. The weather for the week was going to be a bit mixed. Both of us had spent holidays as young people in the area so visiting old haunts may be in order. We all needed a walk so we headed out to just beyond Dartmouth and walked along the coast back to Dartmouth. The coast here was much softer, less dramatic than we had seen elsewhere.
