Wednesday, August 1, 2012 Thomas Paycocke was a prosperous wool merchant who had fine showrooms built for his business in Coggeshall in1509. The buuntitled 8ilding, timber framed wattle and daub filled, was much more strongly built than it needed to be, but he had it built as it was to demonstrate his wealth. It had three rooms down and three rooms up, facing the street, with fine wood panelling and leaded glass windows that extend out from the wall like bay windows. They are called oriel windows.
