Today we visited the town of Cardigan. Until the River Teifi silted up in the 19th century Cardigan was once a large and important seaport. It was from here that many emigration boats set sail for Canada and the USA. Today there is little evidence of port. It was a nice town to wander around and it did have a castle which wasn’t that impressive so we decided we would walk along the river to the Welsh Wildlife Centre in the Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve. Apr 6, 2008 - Arrive in Llechryd

We woke in Llechryd to a familiar sight – snow! It was not the heavy deep snow that we know so well from Ottawa, but a light, almost Styrofoam-looking layer of white over the lawn, plants, driveway and cars. It even covered the garden at Menna’s (Heather’s mother) nursing home. As usual for this part of the world, it melted within hours. The rest of the day was sunny but cool, with the temperature not reaching much more than two or three degrees.
