Marilyn's Musings By now you are probably exhausted reading about hedgerows. Be patient; today’s entry is short since today was a vacation from the vacation day. After another English breakfast that would have fed a family of four, we did some banking, did some walking around the village (forgetting the camera), had tea and took a nap. I rearranged the suitcases for Sunday’s drive to the Eurostar station in Ashford and read part of a book on the I-Pad (I think I could get used to this especially if it meant that I didn’t have to schlep 10#...

Sep 10, 2010 - Tadpoles and aimless wandering in hedgerows

Marilyn's Musings Last night I think both of us fell asleep about 5 seconds after our heads hit the pillows; all those hours of trying to stay awake was very tiring! But our attempt to avoid the worst of jet lag seemed to pay off and this morning brought two shinny bright faces ready to face the day! Well, sort of. First off was our traditional English breakfast consisting of a variety of starters from the buffet -- Dorset yogurt with fresh fruit or honey (more tangy than those we can find in our local grocery stores), bowls of fresh fruit...

Sep 9, 2010 - Ah to be in England

Marilyn's Musings After our refreshing revival this morning, we headed to the Avis lot to pick up our car where the sweet young thing apparently felt these two people in front of her reminded her of her parents, so she upgraded us to a nice, big Peugeot so we would be safe. And safe we were! However, big car and teeny-tiny roads in the English countryside do not exactly have a companionable relationship.
