Apr 28, 2014 - Winding down the Cotswolds

I decided it's time to see new landscapes. Tomorrow, which I believe is Tuesday, I'll be walking to Stonehouse and its train station. From the station, I'll hopefully take trains to Cardiff, Wales. I'll stay there two nights and plan how to sample the Pembrokeshire Coast Trail without going broke. Walking through woods today, I saw carpets of bluebells and little white flowers that turn out to be wild garlic. The garlic smell is subtle and refreshing. Oaks, occasional cedar, and lots of beech. Some new I formation. I read that pubs are coming back big time. The improved economy has seen a rise in consumer confidence, with a resulting increase in beer sales. Pubs are returnng to profitability. This according to the business section of The Sun. And, yes, The Sun is the paper that publishes the famous "Page Three Girl" topless female photo. It was the only reading material available in the fast food joint I visited for dinner in Wotton. Also, I will probably not walk the entire Cotswold Trail. As lovely as the area is, I am feeling...

Sep 6, 2009 - A Gay Night

Even if you weren’t doing a walk along The Cotswold Way you would be tempted to divert off your chosen motorised itinerary to see what a town intriguingly named Wotton-Under-Edge could offer. We were not to discover the town’s delights though until about 8 hours after stepping out from Rose Nook into a gem of a day. This day proved to be the hardest walking to date with uphill right from the beginning; the entire day’s travel being a rollercoaster of hills, valleys peppered with gentle meadows, occasional farm houses and gentle brooks.
