After our last two international trips - the chaos of India and the language struggles of Japan and the lengthy flights both countries required, flying to London felt almost as easy as a quick trip to Florida. The plane was not full, something we always hope for traveling in the shoulder season. However, the Iberia/American Airlines code share flight had medieval media. While we were planning this trip I had the idea to check if Jasper Fforde, probably my favorite living author, would be doing any book signings or anything like that anywhere near someplace we planned to be. I was thrilled to find out that we would be making an appearance in Swindon. It was a perfect location: fairly close to Bath, where we are currently staying, and also the setting of one of his series of books, the Thursday Next series. Aug 30, 2010 - Monday- public holiday

Today was a public holiday so I went out to the country for a walk. Went up a number of hills , view was fantastic - there were red deer along the way- so was a really great walk. Then went for a quick visit to Sara. She is 7mths pregnant and still riding. she has a new horse which is a warmblood. check out the photos

Aug 29, 2010 - Another weekend

This is a long weekend in the UK, which is great. 3 days to see the countryside. Today it was a bit rainy but still went out. Went to Castle Combe which is really one of the prettiest places I have been to. Went for a great walk up into the hilss, tiring but worthwile but did get a bit wet. Have attached some photos. Also stopped at the Vale of the WHite Horse and walked up the hill for some more photos. Hope are all well and you like the photos. As the project is delayed for the second time will probably be home in another 4 weeks!

Aug 22, 2010 - First weekend with car

Hi Everyone First week of project has now gone by. Now for my first weekend with the car. I drove to Slough on Saturday, was not a good day weatherwiae, so I thought London was the best place to be, I can walk and walk and not worry too much about the weather. On Sunday I drove our to Broadway and went walking again. It was quite warm and the hill up to Broadway tower was exhuasting but good excercise. Aug 13, 2010 - London

Good to have a few days to chill out in london. Weather first 2 days were good but today it is raining on and off . Am walking all over and getting on buses to wherever to try and see places I have not seen before. Am also trying to enjoy and relax now as I feel the Project may be intense. iPad is great can read books or just surf Internet. Have Downloaded walking tours of london that actually tell you where you are how cool. Still love it here, multicultural and exciting. Still no real photos to post. Hotel is good nice room not too small...

Aug 11, 2010 - Back again for phase 2

Here I am again in the Uk. Made it fine thru immigration and the flight was good. Only slept on the flight from Singapore though. Arrived reallyearly in the morning. 5am touchdown and I was at the hotel by 6.30am. Have spent the day just walking around. Bought a prepaid sim for my iPad and am sitting in a pub right now typing this. Still need to get used to the iPad keyboard hence all the errora. But it is great for travel. Jun 13, 2010 - trooping of the colour

last weekend over here for this trip. worked really hard the last few weeks, it was nice to come to London and have a few days off. Had to give up the car which i had become attached to! had a stretch limo drive for all CCC members and myself from Swindon to the airport. I then got the train in with my fairly heavy suitcases! I then saw the trooping of the colour on saturday, really crowded but got their early and managed to get a good spot. really enjoyed it, saw the queen of course and a few others! will be leaving on thursday to come home!

Jun 6, 2010 - last weekend in the cotswolds

this weekend was the last weekend that I have the car. Friday will be the last day of work and then I will go straight to London from there. So drov around as much as possible today. good weekend, hot on saturday , cooler today and a bit of rain, but till managed to do quite a bit. hope you like the photos. sadly i will be home in under 2 weeks.

May 29, 2010 - Project delayed

So I am coming home on the 22nd June, so only 3 weeks away. The project go live has been postponed as there are too many outstanding issues from europe, so everyone goes back and then we regroup on the 16th August. So even though I am coming home at least I know I will be going back! Pictures today are again from London (not again!), I went and had a look at the practice of the trooping of the colour. seeya!

May 24, 2010 - my birthday weekend

I had a fantastic weekend in London. the weather was fantastic, about 28 degrees very much like home!. I stayed over in london fri and sat, in a nice hotel near the tate britain, the City inn hotel westminster. Very nice hotel, big room which is not very common for london. I decided to get the open top bus, as it was such a great day, and i sat on top for quite awhile, enjoying scenes. went to Harrods, camden markets, convent garden, leicester square, walked along the thames. at the Mall near horse guards parade saw a BBC movie being made,...

May 16, 2010 - Cotswolds-Broadway

Went to Broadway today. Weather is definitely getting a little warmer, so did quite a bit of walking. Very pretty all around this area. After 2 hour walk, went and had a Roast lunch at the Swan Inn in Broadway, really lovely meal. So then felt I had to walk for another hour!. lovely relaxing day. Hope all are well love Linda
