Another perfect drive through more lush green rolling hills of Scotland & England. Stopped for the night at the Shap Wells BnB in the Cumbria area of Central North Western England. Built in approx 1833 located in an area several miles off the main roads. 1 lane traffic for about 3 miles of nail biting drive. We were lucky as we were able to spend the nite in be if the Bath House rooms. A delicious dinner while overlooking the valley. The next morning (with Joanne's big smile on) we made our way to Stoke on Trent for Portmeirion pottery...

Oct 31, 2014 - A walk to the Stiperstones

It was a lovely day after Hazel and Didi left us so we decided it was time for a good walk in the Long Mynd. Using our 1001 Walks in Britain book we found a walk that took us up to the Stiperstones –rock outcrops. It was a good walk up and was worth the effort because the views were beautiful. It was very windy up the top but we all enjoyed the walk.

Oct 30, 2014 - A few days with Didi and Hazel in Shropshire

Hazel and Didi had come to join us for a few days during the half term break at Shrewsbury. Day 1 saw us in the morning visiting Blist Hill Victorian Village part of the Ironbridge collection of museums. Taking old buildings from around the area a Victorian Village has been created to recreate how one of the villages would have been at the peak of the Industrial Revolution. This is a working museum with a wide selection of properties from a squatter’s house to a working iron foundry. Didi particularly enjoyed making candles, swinging high...

Jun 8, 2007 - Llandudno to Shrewsbury

Good morning Llandudno..what a beautiful day. I really love this cute Victorian town ... all of the buildings are beautiful pastel colours...as we walked along the walkway and took in the sea view. Nick and I made our way to the Tram to take us up to The Great Orme...while waiting we met a wonderful elderly couple, originally from London, now retired and living in Salisbury who made it back to Llandudno after a number of years and were telling us that they know some people in Canada...and go figure, back home in Edmonton.....what a small...
