Apr 11, 2015 - Meine Arbeit & Peak District

My little world

Jun 20, 2006 - Nairobi, England, and Home!!

Tara and I spent our last few days in Africa in Nairobi, Kenya. We treated ourselves to a few nights in some luxury accommodation. When you pay a little extra they give you satelite TV which was great as the French Open (tennis) was on and one would not want to miss such an important sporting event. We also did a lot of souvenier shopping in Nairobi and I think we visited nearly every souvenier shop in the city. Tara wanted to be sure that their was not any item in the city that she had not seen! I actually do not mind souvenier shopping...

Jun 9, 2006 - Groundhog day?

Leaving Nadi and crossing the dateline at midnight meant I got to live the 8th all over again. This version of the 8th was not nearly as fun though. Deciding that I wouldn't be stopping over in LA and wanting to get the 19,000km journey over in one go, I chose to get the earliest connecting flight in LA. Brian had, much to his annoyance, got to stay in LA for 3 days before his connecting flight (most Americans I spoke to had little good to say about LA). So, giving a fond farewell to Brian as he was welcomed back to America with open arms,...

Apr 16, 2006 - We're Off!

We are off - the house has been packed and loaded into a container and shipped off to Oz, the house keys have been handed over to the new owners, and we are loaded up. It was quite a strange feeling seeing all of our worldly goods being bubble wrapped and stacked in a big container - we hope we will see it all again! We spent the last few days with our good friends Phil and Sarah and ate them out of house and home. (We managed to squeeze in the first UK BBQ for the season as well.) Some lovely days walking and riding in the Peak district...

Aug 7, 2005 - LONDON, England

07 August, 2005 Dear everyone: ** We tried to upload ten photos and it took a long long time at this cafe, but only added 9 without captions. So we will do the rest another time. Making this entry sitting in a Dublin,Ireland internet point, actually quite reasonable compared to most of the cafe's we've been using; this one is "only" $2.00/hour in Canadian funds ! YEAH ! Hopefully this finds all of you in good health and happy spirits, as we are. ( John is actually just getting over a miserable cold ) Carol, how are you doing ? A bit...

Mar 20, 2005 - Passports, Tickets, Money

So we're ready for the off. We have packed, unpacked, re-packed, forgotten whether or not we've put the mosquito repellent in, unpacked again, found the Mosiguard inside someone's shoe, and finally repacked. We have renewed the home insurance, cancelled the milk, and redirected the post. At work, we have presented handover files to unsuspecting colleagues. Time to go. We'll be back before we know it, but in the meantime.... Things We Will Miss - Grandma Vera's 80th - Various other birthdays and indeed, births - Andy and Caroline's...

Jan 1, 2004 - General 2004 stuff

These are just some of my favourite photos from 2004 and should give you a wee 'taste' of our year. Please don't feel obliged to read my ramblings,it's just for those that can be bothered to read on. Right where to begin? Well as usual last year was a pretty busy year, filled with the normal London evenings out, weekends away, holidays, festivals, capoeira interspersed with work as well as the odd bit of saving for our big trip. (Well perhaps more than the odd bit of saving.) We managed to start the year by doing a three week trip around...
