Day 27 – Friday 7th October Dunkirk, France – Lowestoft, England - 194miles, total to date = 3,115miles Woke up early & could have caught the 6am ferry but took our time before moving round to line up for the 8am ferry. We were loaded on to the lorry deck & luckily we were right at the front when it came to disembarking in Dover after the two hour crossing so we were second or third vehicle off the boat. We’d been checked in Dunkirk for stowaways by the Immigration people & Customs so we drove straight off the boat & out of the docks onto...

South East Asia 2016

Jan 19, 2016 - Here We Go Again!

On a cold & frosty morning! We left on our six week adventure to South East Asia. We went by coach from Lowestoft to Victoria coach station in London. It was a bright sunny morning but freezing cold & the bus was over half an hour late, but it was a nice easy trip. We took the underground to Heathrow airport then by bus to our hotel. In the evening we took advantage of our free bus passes to go to Hayes for the steak night at Wetherspoons. Viv enjoyed the two free drinks, whisky & cokes, I had water, what a hero! Our hotel was a bit tatty...

Oct 29, 2015 - Home Again

Thurs 29th Oct. Couldn't really sleep properly so got up at 5am & had a shower & coffee while waiting for everyone else to surface. Then it was just a case of having breakfast, saying thanks & heading off home. We were home by midday in time for the onslaught of grandchildren which came pretty quickly as it was half term & they were all on holiday. What a great trip & what a great experience. I can't praise the travel company enough they really packed everything into a great value trip. We obviously only skimmed the surface of China but we...

Feb 13, 2015 - Back Home

Up at 4am for early breakfast before moving round to the departure area. A French security officer actually came inside Elsie to check for illegals, the first time we've had this done. Even checked under the bed & in the washroom. The crossing was nice & smooth & we disembarked at 7.15am(UK time) & headed straight up the motorway to the Dartford crossing. I have Dart account so the crossing toll is automatically deducted from my account as we pass through the barriers, no need to stop & pay like previously. We were back in Lowestoft in time...

Jan 4, 2015 - Here We Go Again

A sunny but cold & frosty morning saw the final preparations for the start of our trip to the Southernmost tip of Italy. A lovely sunny day but with a heavy frost. Had to wait for the water hose to thaw out before I could fill up the water tank on the motorhome. Finished loading clothes & food on board & had a couple of hours with Mary, Steven, Rachel & eight of our grandchildren. Also had a surprise visit from Chris & Annette Galer after lunch before heading off down to Dover at 3.45pm. Nice easy drive of 175 miles with a stop at Brentwood...

Jun 14, 2014 - Home Again

We were up again at 5am UK time(6am European) & had our breakfast in the cabin. We had brought up our cereals, milk, kettle etc from the motorhome so it was home from home so to speak. We were called down to our vehicles at 6.30am ready for disembarkation. The line of cars to the side of us pulled off one by one & then our line started off so I followed the car in front & moved forward only to have one of the crew in an orange boiler suit jump in front of me frantically waving his arms & pointing up. Just a few get in front & above us was...

Apr 12, 2014 - Tom and Emily's Wedding

Saturday saw us having a late breakfast before getting ready for Tom and Emily’s wedding at a nearby hotel. The wedding was certainly not your usual white wedding .It was very informal and very enjoyable. Emily broke all traditions by wearing blue and taking Tom with here to buy the dress! The wedding had both a nautical and Dr Who theme (both keen fans). She looked lovely and they both enjoyed the day particularly the surprise musical sketch performed by four of their friends. Lucy and Rosie the two bridesmaids were adorable and Lucy...

We had another busy month in England. In the first week in April we had several enjoyable lunches the first with Susan and David (Heather’ sister and brother-in-law) with and the second with Jill and Nick (Heather’s cousins) as well as finishing the jobs needed to be done at Heather’s Mum’s. From Grantham we headed to the Norfolk/ Suffolk coast stopping at a campground in between Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. Two reasons for our visit: Firstly we had a family wedding of our nephew Tom and his girlfriend Emily on the 12 April. Secondly as it...
