Apr 6, 2015 - Easter Monday walk along the coast on a beautiful day

Where do you go on a beautiful sunny bank holiday to get away from the crowds? We decided to go back to Kimmeridge on the coast but walk the other way. The first part of the walk was steep but after that it became easy and was wonderful with great coastline views.

Apr 4, 2015 - A walk along the Jurassic Coast

It was dry but quite cold but we all needed a walk so we headed out to the coast near Kimmeridge. Although quite cold we all enjoyed the walk. Afterwards we went to the deserted village of Tyneham which had been taken over by the MOD in World War II and never returned to the villagers after the war. Today it is still in the MOD artillery range but tells the story of the villagers who lived there before the war.

Sep 8, 2012 - Boots on again but watch for shells!

At weekends the Lulworth artillery ranges are open for walking. During the week they are used for tank and artillery training so it a must to keep to the designated and well marked paths. We were able to walk the coastal path around Kimmeridge Bay to West Lulworth. Here the coast stone is dark shale completely different to the chalk and limestone further along the coast. The coastal path passes close to the deserted village of Tyneham where village residents were evicted by the army in 1943 and they were never able to return. Passed the...
