As the bus timetable did not work with our plans to visit Osborne House, we set off in Homer this morning, driving the longer route through Brading and Ryde to East Cowes. There is a large carpark in the grounds so parking for Homer was no problem, and free. The house was built in the mid 1800’s for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and their nine children as a summer home and retreat. We saved £13.50 each as members of English Heritage! There was so much to see in the house itself (no photos allowed) that we spent a couple of hours there...
