Sep 13, 2012 - Lunch in Bridgwater, then on to Cardigan area

Thursday September 13 Everyone was up early; Chris was first to leave around 7:15 and we were on our way before 8:00 a.m. just before Katie left for work. It was another sunny day and we took our time driving up towards Salisbury and then onto the A303 to head west towards Somerset. We stopped for a morning coffee in Wincanton before driving to Bridgwater where we met Carl (Heather’s nephew), his girl-friend Emma and his mother Ursula for lunch. We ate a lovely lunch at a local pub called The Rover and an opportunity to catch up on...

Jul 12, 2011 - Planning of the trip so far!

The only thing that was booked before our wedding was the rugby tickets! Everything else has been on hold until after our special day. Until now! Now it has been a case of quickly researching and trying to book and plan things. So far, we have rough dates of when we want to go and where. Rugby tickets booked, but won't be in hand until collected in New Zealand. Accommodation has finally been booked for the rugby in Wellington. Staying at the Cambridge Hotel. Happens to be where the Springboks supporters home hotel is as well. Not many...

This morning we said bye to Menna , always a difficult occasion for us all. Then we drove to Somerset to watch Carl (Heather’s nephew) play cricket; he is captain of the Kilve team and it was their first game of the season. It became an exciting game when Carl’s team had only a few runs to score to win and they were running out of overs. In the end it was tied on the last bowl of the day, 104 to 104, a good result for everyone.

Apr 5, 2008 - Bridgwater, Somerset

We had a pretty good night’s sleep at Ranville Farm B&B, probably because we had been on the go with no sleep from Thursday morning in Ottawa until Friday evening in England – about 34 hours! We ate a full English breakfast before driving on to Bridgwater in Somerset to meet Carl (Heather’s nephew) and Ursula (Carl’s mother) for a late lunch. We think Carl has finally stopped growing – at 19 years, he is at least six feet tall! After snapping a few photos, we headed off to Wales, arriving in LLechryd shortly after 18:00. Robert (Heather’s...
