Hello Parents So if your evening is anything like mine it will looking for a passport which I haven't seen since the last time I went on holiday and trying to remember the 14 different chargers I need to make sure all my things work. Should be fun. So lets run through some quick things for tonight/tomorrow: 1.) We leave at 12.30am if you think you might be running late please ring me on 07793676537. 2.) 23kg is the weight limit. If the bold Buttershaw tradition of extreme tat buying continues for another year then they'll need some space...Jump to full entry
Mar 29, 2016 - Day Five - Mount Fuji and Ninja Stars
Good Evening All So today was our last full day of sightseeing (BOO!) We began early with a good bus run out to Mount Fuji which Mr Dowd assures me is of geographical importance (if such a thing exists). However before we went mountain watching we had our lunch at a Ninja House! Whilst the cold Tempura went down well with some, it was the post lunch tat buying and Ninja Star throwing that went down well. From there we headed to Oshina Hakai village where 8 natural spring water ponds are fed by run off from Mt Fuji. The ponds are filled...Jump to full entry
Mar 28, 2016 - Day Four - Disneyland, Arcades, Queues and Train Rides
Good Evening Parents So, today was an interesting day. We began with the usual fayre for Breakfast including (and I promise I have photo evidence) 'Cornfrakes' After that we headed to Nippori station to catch a train to Disneyland! Tokyo commuting is cramped to say the least and we had to make a change at Tokyo Central Station which is huge and contained what we thought might be the largest concentration of people we'd see on our trip. We were wrong. We arrived at Disneyland and headed into the park about 10am where we were confronted by a...Jump to full entry
Mar 27, 2016 - Day Three - Dancing Robots!
Good Evening, Today began very much like yesterday with chips and bacon for Breakfast and plenty of Mango Pop. After that we loaded up our bright pink buses for a tour of some different parts of Tokyo. We began with a ride out on a very cramped and driver less train to the Centre for Technology and Innovation where we saw a working model of the Internet which didn't make much sense, a human like Android that read be news, a replica of the ISS, a rotating Earth, motion capture technology and oddly some booths which weirdly analysed for...Jump to full entry
Mar 26, 2016 - Day Two - The Sights of Tokyo
Good Evening All Imagine the great surprise of chips for breakfast! The day started on a high for some, who have been less than enamored with the traditional fayre. All bright-eyed and bushy tailed, the group had to split into two groups for the first activity of the day. 25 had the very great pleasure of being dressed up in traditional Japanese kimonos. Attached are some pictures of just how handsome and beautiful the end result was. As we were shuffled outside for photo opportunities and we became the focus for Japanese passers-by. They...Jump to full entry
Mar 25, 2016 - Day One - A very long day
Good Evening/Morning So we have finally arrived, we haven't been asleep since Wednesday but we're here and the kids are down for the night. Today has largely consisted travelling from Narritta Airport to Sunshine City where we had the pleasure of being bombarded by Japanese culture from the off. We 'experienced' Namcon Ninja Town and Mr Menzer was accosted by a 6ft cat with excessive jazz hands. We then had a look around the nearby shopping mall where in true Buttershaw fashion they made a bee like for the first McDonalds they could see....Jump to full entry
Mar 19, 2016 - 5 sleeps to go
Good Evening Parents So, not long now until we depart for Tokyo. If you're reading this, the system works! Every time I upload something to the journal, you will receive an email saying there is something new to read. We apparently have free WiFi in the lobby of the hotel and possibly in the rooms so uploading 'shouldn't' be a problem. For this year we have also set up a twitter account in case we can upload stuff throughout the day whilst we're out and about, our Twitter handle is @BBECSchool if you're into that kind of thing. Having a...Jump to full entry
