Jan 31, 2019 - Bonne année 2019! Just on time

Aug 7, 2018 - Oslo to Dubai

7 August 2018 Safely landed in Dubai after a very comfortable flight, a lovely dinner and great cabin crew. We now have a three hour+ stop over. Landed at D8 and connecting flight is from C13. That managed to use up quite a bit of our time negotiating between D and C. Landed about 10.45pm and eventually found our next gate 40 minutes later! Had a very fast exit through security, then a series of lifts, escalators, travelators and a train ride, and now we are in C departure area!! Such a huge huge airport! At least at this hour, it is fairly...

Aug 6, 2018 - Fights from Seattle to Cape Town on Aug. 5 to 7

Vince’s father came at 2:30pm to pick Eric and I up. Vince took two of his climbing landing pads because it is free to check in 2 luggage per person. With our luggage the small SUV was filled to the rim. We met Eric’s other 3 friends at the airport: Keith, Noah and Keith’s girlfriend Lisa. All 3 are much older than Eric and Vince in their late 20th, seem nice. The fight was on time to take off at about 6:00pm. Vince and Eric sit together in a row in front of me. The service and food were outstanding. It was a Boeing 777 new plane. I would...

Aug 3, 2018 - Dubai

So here we are sitting at our stunning hotel in Dubai waiting for our chauffeur to pick us up and drop us off to the airport for our journey home.. we have done absolutely nothing here other than relax swim and visit the city shopping center.. so hot over 40 every day .. yikes, but have to say a really great way to wind down from what I’m going to call the trip of a lifetime, every ounce , everyday, every location was without a doubt an adventure and I wouldn’t change a single thing.. Ok so we’ve found the Moët Chandon bar at the Emirates...

Europe Holiday 2018

Jul 10, 2018 - Dubai

10 July 2018 Refreshed after a good night's rest, a hearty breakfast, and joined the 9am courtesy bus to the usual blue bus route, which then took us to stop 20 to join the yellow bus route! We have made quite a few "friends" with the drivers etc on these bus routes. They are so friendly, helpful and courteous and always check where we have been and where we are going. One told us today that he would miss us!! Maybe because we are always asking questions and getting directions. He let us sit in air conditioned comfort today and then...

Jul 9, 2018 - Dubai

9 July 2018 After a good night's sleep and a hearty breakfast, we set off in the 9am courtesy bus to join up with the blue route hop on hop off bus to the Dubai Mall. Here we changed to the red route bus which travels through the old town. Our first "hop off" was at Al Seef for the Dhow Cruise. The hour long cruise around Dubai Creek was very enjoyable in air conditioned comfort. Plenty of activity on the water way, mainly with water taxis. Passed one cruiser that would just fit across our back yard at home! Next stop was the Dubai Museum,...

Jul 8, 2018 - Dubai

8 July 2018 Arrived at Ramada, Jumeirah Beach around 8am. Our check in time was 2pm but we were able to get a room straight away, so was good to unpack, have a cup of tea and then head back downstairs to see what our time here might bring! Everyone very helpful and very courteous and after much discussion at the concierge desk, we decided on the three day hop on, hop off bus pass which also allows entry to most attractions around here. We waited for the 11am Ramada courtesy bus which took us to a bus stop on the blue route where we ended...

Jul 7, 2018 - Brisbane to Dubai

7 July 2018 Travel day has arrived at last and it's time to get serious about organization. Enjoyed a morning at Toombul catching up with Jeff, Pauline and Carla. Then a few last minute items to be picked up and then home for the last minute jobs and final packing. Arrived at the airport with plenty of time, smooth checkin and other formalities. Brisbane airport (as usual) still thinks Pam is a threat and she didn't escape the "explosives" test AGAIN, which always gives Don a laugh. Boarding and take off all on time and flight was smooth...

Europe 2018

Jul 5, 2018 - An exhilarating ride

'It's pretty good now. Not so much fighting'. she replied. I had admitted honestly to the couple sitting next to me that I knew very little about Zambia, their country and had enquired as to what their country was like. They were off to Melbourne, too, having boarded the Emirates flight in Dubai along with me, anxious to visit their three expat adult children who have all studied in Melbourne, mostly in areas of accountancy, banking and commerce, following in their parents' footsteps as a banker and CEO. Inconveniently, they resided in...
