Amasya was a brief but pleasant enough stop. In a deep river gorge, many sultans were sent here over the years to learn sultany-type things, blah, blah, blah, etc. For me, I was happy enough to stroll the banks of the river, check out some typical Otoman architecture and experience my first Turkish bath in an old hamman built in the early 1400's. Its a cool old structure with light dappling through the oddly placed windows in the thick domed ceilings. Sounds echo off the marble as they start you off steaming in the sauna.
