Took a 11:30 am bus ride from Chiang Mai to Thaton. The road was very curvy as we went through the mountain ranges. We saw many rice fields and local Thai homes along our journey, at times the smoke haze was so bad you couldn’t see much of the mountains at all. A lot of palm tree plantations lined the roadside. It was a very nice ride in a mediocre bus, no air conditioning only a small fan that worked part of the time and filled with all locals with the exception of us and another white ’farang’ couple....just the way we like it. Jul 23, 2010 - Thaton

Heute Nachmittag sind wir in Thaton angekommen, nach einer etwa 5-stuendigen Fahrt in einem nicht klimatisierten Bus als einzige Auslaender. In diesen Bussen werden auf den Sitzbaenken rechts und links jeweils drei Sitze verkauft, was Christian dazu veranlasst hat gleich die ganze Bank zu kaufen und so nicht das Risiko einzugehen, dass wir zu dritt auf so einer winzigen Bank hocken muessen. Das waere wahrscheinlich gar nicht noetig gewesen, denn so sehr sich der Bus auch gefuellt hat, neben uns haette sowieso niemand mehr gepasst, denn ein...

3 April. As so many other mornings, this morning started with an early breakfast and an early checkout from the Top North GH. First I have to take a tuk-tuk taxi to one of Chiang Mai’s two bus stations. This bus station I went for is called White Elephant Bus Station ( I think ), the other one is the Arcade. Just beside the White Elephant Bus Station is the minibus station situated. By minibus I started a 180 kilometres trip to the Northern part of Chiang Mai Province. Dec 11, 2009 - big trek...

for the first time...i'm lost for words. we've got the big trek coming up tomorrow, so I probably won't get a chance to email for a week. first day should be easy...it's only a boat ride, bus ride then lunch at hot springs. we're walking a little but it's a pretty easy first day. also the elephant ride on the fourth is REALLY exiting :) I've got millions of pictures already but still over 300 left! forgot to tell you all, Laos is officially famous for oreos.
