Jun 11, 2017 - Krabi

We spent our last few days in Krabi, where we spent a day in Railey beach which was a taxi boat journey ride to a different part of the island. There was an amazing view point which we had to free rock climb to, to reach the very top! We also did a hike up to Tiger Cave Temple in Krabi which was 1,237 steps up to the top! This was the most challenging walk we have done throughout our whole travels! Apart from that we have had some very relaxing last few days sun bathing before catching our flight back home!

May 21, 2017 - Last night in Thailand

Our very last night in Thailand before we fly to Singapore tomorrow. The mini bus journey from Ko Lanta to Krabi was an interesting one mainly as th the stranger sitting next to me decided to use my shoulder as his pillow. I wasn't very impressed! It has been a very wet one in Krabi but we still managed to visit the only sight around. The temple we visited was beautiful and very quiet. The food has been so tasty here and the restaurants have windows which is a novelty.

May 17, 2017 - Railay Beach

We have spent the last four night at Railay beach. It is one of those picture postcard places and somewhere we have looked forward to visiting since we started out 5 weeks ago. To get to Railay you have to take a longboat as the island is not accessible by land. After a slightly bumpy 15 minutes where we thought we were going to capsize every 10 seconds we arrived at what is possibly the most beautiful place we have ever seen. The island is surrounded by lush jungle and towering rocks which come out of the water. Given it is low season at...

Apr 2, 2016 - Krabi

April 2, 2016, Krabi Feeling good and yet realizing our limited supply of energy at the same time. We go for breakfast to an open air, empty restaurant down the road a bit. Nice breeze and in the shade! Eke ordered a yoghurt with muesli and fresh fruit and Brian bacon and scrambled eggs. We are the only customers there. We don't see a kitchen anywhere and wonder how our food is going to be prepared. We realize that our waitress gets on the phone and a while later a man on a motorbike delivers two slices of bread (for Brian's toast) and...

Apr 1, 2016 - Homestay to Krabi

April 1, 2016. Eke wakes up at approx. 1:30 am to a lot of coughing and noise. She has to go to the bathroom and finds Tony (our tour leader) downstairs looking very pale and burning up. He is feeling so badly that Mr. Ae is bringing him back to the hospital. We feel quite a bit better although still weak when we get up in the morning. The meds are working! Tony is still in the hospital and is getting fluids. Nobody knows when he is being discharged. He may not be able to continue as our tour leader and in that case Intrepid will send us...

Mar 18, 2016 - Castaways at Koh Lanta

At first we're told the ferry ride will be 2 hours and direct from Krabi to Koh Lanta. Arriving at the pier in Krabi there are 100 fellow travelers milling around waiting for the ferry. It arrives about 30 minutes late and then we're told it will have two stops and take about 2 1/2 hours - that means we'll be about 1 hour late arriving to Koh Lanta and no way to let Darin know ! Oh well, what ya gonna do ? Ferry ride is comfortable with great views along the river as we head to the ocean from Krabi. The two 'stops' are unique experiences...

Mar 14, 2016 - Krabi

I learnt a few very valuable lessons here. Lesson 1: always book your accommodation after your bus ticket, otherwise you could end up paying for a night in a hotel when you will actually be sitting very uncomfortably on a bus trying to sleep. Lesson 2: always respect the sun, otherwise you could end up embarassingly pink and have to spend the next few days sheltering from it. Lesson 3: spend less time reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, otherwise you might not want to do anything or go anywhere. Lesson 4: take time to interact with new...

Mar 14, 2016 - Very Un-Crabby Krabi

Short flight from Penang, Malaysia to Krabi, Thailand transports us from the Muslim culture to the Buddhist. I can feel the change. The people seem more content, relaxed, peaceful; maybe I just imagine this, but Thailand was to me the most tranquil country that I had visited years ago. Krabi is on a large river and on the Adaman Sea. And is where the limestone karst formations, apartment building sized, are scattered throughout the landscape. The town has the ubiquitous market stalls, and the delicious aroma of Thai food fills the air....

Feb 12, 2015 - Krabi town

Reisdag.

Thailand 2015

Jan 18, 2015 - 18th & 19th January 2015

Ok, so we left Khao Lak, wished we hadn't when we got to our next destination. We didn't book anything because although we have GPS, it doesn't work! I expect it does really, but something is lost in the translation between Thai and English so it doesn't enter in the way we assume it does. Really frustrating! Anyway, we decided we'd just drive for a couple of hours and then look for something on the beach, not too touristy but something nice. So followed the signs to a beach just past Krabi and found what looked like a beautiful hotel, in...

May 18, 2014 - Krabi-kayaking the caves

Well I knew it could happen but so close to the end of my journey, I thought maybe I lucked out. Not so...spent all yesterday afternoon and evening sick:( Thinking positive I booked a 1/2 day (not feeling positive enough for full day) kayak tour through the mangroves and into the caves and booked evening ride into town for the night market. Kayaking was amazing, so beautiful! And our guide (Egg) who I shared kayak with was also beautiful. I never thought Thai men were good looking until today, ohhlala! Really dark skin & curly hair so...

May 17, 2014 - Good bye Koh Samui.... hello Krabi!

Moving day today...it's days like today that I wish i was rich and had servants to carry my luggage and fly me to my next destination. What a long morning. Took taxi from beach house to the pier to catch my "luxurious bus" from Koh Samui to Krabi. When we got close to pier I seen bus with the touring companies logo, so I had cabie pull over so I could see if in right place. I show bus driver my e-ticket and he literally shoed me away. Someone pointed to a lady behind a desk, so I show her ticket and ask her if in right place. She told me...
