Dec 11, 2016 - Thailand ... Koh Lanta ... Pics of around

Here are some pictures we've taken on our many scooter adventures around Koh Lanta. This is a great place and if you are planning a trip to Thailand, its worth adding this tomyour bucket list. Our camera has officially died and unfortunately there are no more "mcgiver moves" to fix it. We will have to lug the ipad around for the last few days. We leave for Bangkok on wednesday and fly home saturday Dec 17th. Xoxo Greg n Tracy

Dec 7, 2016 - Thailand ... Koh Lanta - Long Beach (Rasa Sayang Resort)

There are several beaches on the island, however, Long Breach is by far the best. Its approx 4km long with a stretch of nice soft sand, clear water, a string of hotels and casual restaurants with all the traditional Thai dishes and fresh seafood. Its also a great beach for endless shell collecting. We spent a week down the coast at the "Pavillion resort" on Khlong Khong Beach and are now in a great bungalow on Long Beach. We have gotten to the "vacation stage" of our travels and not doing too much other than enjoying the food, spending time...

Nov 30, 2016 - Thailand ... Koh Lanata - Market Day

Koh Lanta is big enough that each small community or town on the island has its own market day. Although you will see a few of us tourists there looking for a deal, these markets are how many of the locals shop on a weekly basis. Our stomachs are so tough now, we can handle anything food the market had to offer. We feasted on the sticky rice, bbq meat bits ... chicken sausage, local dishes made of fresh yellow, green or red curry paste and lots of fish. Yummmy Greg n Tracy

Nov 23, 2016 - Thailand ... Koh Lanta - Khlong Khong beach

Koh Lipe was beautiful but onward to Koh Lanta. We took a small ferry which hops and drops people off at a few islands within the archepeligo. Most beautiful ferry ride we've ever been on. Some of these islands are right out of a Guilligan's island episode. Koh Lanta is still part of the Krabi province on Thailand’s Andaman coast. It’s known for its coral-fringed beaches, mangroves, limestone outcrops and rainforests. Scooters are $8 a day and we've rented one almost every day to explore some of what this island is famous for Mu Ko Lanta...

Dec 7, 2012 - Island Hopping in Southern Thailand

Somewhere between Bangkok and Krabi Once we had piled onto our bus and made ourselves comfortable, which was surprisingly easy to do, we were both in and out of sleep for most of the night. Until we got woken up at 6:00 am and directed to hop into a mini bus, by ourselves? We knew others were also going to Krabi, but for some reason it was just the two of us. Our driver made a sudden U-turn and was gunning it straight for a local bus, where he went on to yell "Krraaaabbiiii" and somehow managed to make them stop so that we could hop on...

Feb 16, 2012 - Koh Lanta

Koh Lanta has turned out to be a surprise for me. I had some pretty big expectations before I came, which is absolutely the worst thing to have when travelling. So, of course, as the ferry pulled up to the pier I wondered exactly what I had gotten myself into. What I had initially saw as a blah beach and dirty streets has turned out to be pretty much exactly what I was looking for when I came to Thailand. Koh Lanta is a small island, so it's very nice a quiet. Strangers aren't piled up towel to towel on the beach. And the water is warmer...

Jun 22, 2011 - Koh Lanta

Ok, so we arrived in koh Lanta and went to this resort that is absolutely beautifull, we didnt think we would be able to afford it, but in the end it cost $13 and included a buffet breakfast. Our bungalows were nice with an attached bathroom and a balcony with ocean views. The resort had a private beach and a pool. it also had a restaurant and a movie room, beach bar and massage spa. We check in and relax for the afternoon making sure to get royally crisp from the sun. We stayed for 4 nights and spent 1/2 that time relaxing at the quiet...

Oct 25, 2010 - Ao Nang /Koh Lanta

Been here for 8 days. Staying at Southern Lanta Resort for $28pn plus breakfast - much more in high season of course. We've got a stand-alone bungalow, one back from the beach. Really nice little house surrounded by lush gardens. Our resort seems to be the hot spot for bogan Swedes with babies. Nasty I know but everyone (not the babies ) has multiple tatts, but I mean the really ugly variety - eagles claws over the shoulder, daggers (with dripping blood) up the calf etc - and that's the girls!! On our second day, after walking around for...

Mar 31, 2010 - Mangrove Kayaking

Kayaking in a mangrove…sounds great. We all have kayaked, we have been to and liked mangroves and…Ben actually wanted to do something that was not on the computer so we simply had to make this happen. I many ways there was little to tell for kayaking in a mangrove is not as interesting as it sounds, but when traveling there is always a story, in this case a story that PETA will be interested in. The Wait When we arrive at the pier on the other side of the island we see the animals we associate with mangroves, that being crabs and...
