Jan 2, 2015 - Kaltes Thailand

Obwohl etwas touristisch vom Guide angekündigt, konnten Bea...

Feb 16, 2014 - Hua Hin bits

8 weeks in Thailand, where did that go? Had some great times met lots of nice people from all over the world. Saw in the Chinese new year, not quite the same as it was over a couple of days. Managed to go fishing at the Hua Hin fishing lodge and caught a Mekong Catfish and a 15 kilo Siamese black carp. Christine tried out the hospital facilities with a badly cut leg (broken wine glass), have to say they were very good. Still like Hua Hin enough to book again for next year, but now off to Australia for our next adventure. Flying from Bangkok...

Jan 20, 2014 - Kings Cup Golf Black Mountain

Black Mountain Golf Course a 30 minute drive from Hua Hin and host to the Kings Cup golf championship with total prize money of $1 million US. Top golf course in Thailand and in the top 100 courses in the world. Most of the players were Thai's with a few few Australians and lesser known Europeans. It was won by a Thai with an unpronounceable name beating Rikard Karlberg by one shot. Great day out even if you are not a big golf fan, wonderful scenery and lots of other things going on.

Jan 14, 2014 - Hua Hin Uncovered

I think Thailand is a great place where East meets West and gets away with it. Forget it's political problems the people generally are really nice and don't forget that they need the money from the European tourists. Hua Hin is about 200 Km south of Bangkok on the East coast and is the home of the kings equivalent to our queens Balmoral. This is my seventh visit in the winter and though nothing really changes except for new hotels and the odd restaurant and bar appearing I never really get tired or bored of the place. The English are in a...

Jan 1, 2014 - Hua Hin New Year

Happy New Year The Thai's celebrate the new year in style, moreso than I expected. The actual date here in Thai years is 2556 but they use 2014 as it makes life less confusing. The traditional new year is on April 13th and is called Songkran, still celebrated by squirting water over each other using water pistols, hose pipes and anything else that will hold water. Sounds a bit similar to Spanish fiestas. Started off in the Market Village Mall which had live music and dancers all put on for free. Ended up down on the beach for the countdown...

Dec 23, 2013 - Hua Hin Thailand

Hi everyone, finally made it to Thailand, I was starting to wonder where I was going to wake up next, but it's been a great experience. The camera broke, my hair dryer broke, and bits keep dropping off my suitcase, but apart from that have survived quite well. My poor feet have just had a well deserved pedicure after all that walking. The xmas lights are amazing here, and xmas music is playing everywhere. Wishing you all a good one, goodness knows what we will have, probably vindaloo. Best wishes Christine.

Sep 24, 2013 - Day 2 - Hua Hin to Prachuap Kiri Khan

For many riding 90k's on Day One was a first so when they woke this morning realising they were to ride 125k their were some nervous faces. Still after a hearty breakfast we got on our bikes and began what is a tough day in the saddle. The weather was perfect for riding as we set off through the main town of Hua Hin. We had a mix of highways and some amazing back roads that took us through fishing villages and around (yes around - not over) some amazing mountains that met awesome lakes. You just don't see this part of Thailand typically....

FBA / HATW Ride 2013

Jun 25, 2013 - Hua Hin, Thailand

Beach Time in Thailand Winter break was winding down and with only four days left we wanted some beach time. After consulting the Lonely Planet we decided on Hua Hin, a three hour bus ride from Bangkok. It was nice to hang out at the beach and relax for a few days. Our hotel was on the water, but we had a 20 minute walk to a prime spot on the beach. Each afternoon we parked ourselves for eats and drinks with a dip in the blue ocean to cool down under the blazing afternoon sun. I could have used a week of this to rest and recharge my...

Feb 27, 2012 - Brad’s Second and Most Certainly Last Entry...Haha

It’s 6:00 am. I sit at our outdoor kitchen table; coffee in hand, sun just coming up, roosters crowing, dogs barking in the distance, a cool breeze blowing, and I can’t believe it’s been 4 months already. Two days until we are home in Canada, and there is sadness in me. Though I am happy to be coming home to visit family and friends, Thailand is a crazy place that draws you and is hard to leave. When you first arrive at the airport in Bangkok your tired and excited. The next day proves to be one of awe and shock to where you really are......

Feb 22, 2012 - Home in Six Days!

Sawatee caa! It’s hard to believe that we will be on a plane heading home in 6 days! In some ways it’s felt like it’s been a long time because we have seen & done so much & in some ways it feels like we just got here. The last couple weeks have been a lot of fun. It’s been a busy month in the door to door work. After spending mornings doing that we have been taking advantage of the beach while we still have it close by. We have also taken a day each week to explore the area surrounding Hua Hin. Two weeks ago Andres, Mimi & their boys,...

Feb 6, 2012 - Everyday Life...

Just thought I would give a quick message to everyone. I haven't been able to write because we have no internet at the new house. That is OK though because it's been a good change. We moved last Wednesday, surprised when Ped & Son dusted off an old car from the garage for us to use in moving our stuff. They were so excited we were moving into their house. It took pretty much all afternoon to move. It's amazing how much we collected over just a few short months. We loaded up the car once & then did about 3 trips on the scooter with small...
