This morning we went for along the beach after breakfast, and discovered the upmarket touristy part of the island. It was early and many shops weren’t open yet it was warming up quite quickly. After some shopping we made our way back to the guesthouse, packed out bags and waited for our tour guide – you gotta love the freedom he gives you! Jan 26, 2009 - Hua Hin - Chumporn

Happy Straya’ Day!!! The morning was a little quiet with most people suffering from the celebrations the night before! Very little was open so we enjoyed a walk around the large town before the pollution increased. Late morning we left Hua Hin for the coast near Chumporn. We stayed in a guest house about 5min walk from the beach with other i-to-i volunteers that were teaching at the local schools. Oct 10, 2008 - Chumporn: fishing boats aplenty!

We took the boat here from Koh Tao so that the overnight bus trip to Bangkok would be a bit shorter. As we came up the river into Chumporn we started to see hundreds of fishing boats on either side, all with fishermen on them having a bath from large barrels, relaxing or preparing for their next trip. It was a very fascinating sight; we've never seen so many fishing boats! We only had a few hours to waste; so we grabbed a nice meal and wandered the streets until it was time for our night bus.
