Oct 7, 2014 - Thailand Part 1
I spent most of the month of August in Thailand. I got there on August 1st from Cambodia and stayed until the 28th. This journal entry will document about the first half of the month and the activities I participated in during my visit. --I spent about a day and a half in Bangkok, then took a 12 hour night bus to Chiang Mai. It was about as fun as it sounds. --The first thing I did when I got to Chiang Mai was go to the Tiger Kingdom. This is a place where tourists can take pictures with tigers of various ages. They had anything from baby...Jump to full entry
Sep 4, 2014 - Chiang Mai 2 - Good Deeds
The morning was another slow one after the previous night. As I mentioned I really wasnt into the touristy activities around Chiang Mai, so i met up with Felix to see the city. He was really into seeing the city on motos. I just wasn't up to the task yet, considering the driving I had seen and the stories i heard so we got a tuk tuk. We took the ride an hour up a massive mountain where there were stunning views and temples that actually impressed me. The winding road made me glad we didn't take motos. On the ride back down Felix looks on...Jump to full entry
Sep 3, 2014 - Chiang Mai 1 - Welcome to the Jungle
Surprisingly great sleep on the 15 hour journey north to Chiang Mai. Ordered my breakfast and had the odds of sitting down with a great German solo traveller Felix who ended up being a great guy. We made usual travel talk as the jungle whizzed by us. The usual awaited us as we got off at Chiang Mai, 'Tuk Tuk!!!' me and Felix were a great duo at driving down the cost of the taxi. As we got into the inner city I couldn't help but notice the dramatic difference between Bangkok. Chiang Mai is the second biggest city and the cultural capital of...Jump to full entry
Sep 3, 2014 - Rerouted: An Intro to Thailand
I was never particularly looking forward to Bangkok. If it wasn't the only place I could secure a Myanmar visa, I probably would've omitted it from my itinerary altogether. Now being where the rest of my super organized schedule would unhinge, despite being grateful for its great medical facilities that would hopefully fix me, I was a little antagonistic about Thailand's capital. But turns out I like Bangkok. In fact, I like it a lot. Let's skip the long, boring health stuff and just say no one could figure out what was wrong, but I...Jump to full entry

Så resten av min Chiang Mai historia fortsätter här. Monday, 24 February. Waked up this morning, with the result from the ice hockey final in the Olympics. Sweden lost to Canada. In the early afternoon, Lek came back and we went to an office, I signed some paper and the man took almost all my money, 5000...Jump to full entry

Tuesday, 28 January. At 9.45 o’clock the Green Bus departed from Chiang Khong, with a destination to Chiang Mai. Before that we had time to eat breakfast in a restaurant with a beautiful view over the Maekong River and we also had time to check-out from the Green Inn. The bus trip went via a short stop in Chiang Rai, the same road back to Chiang Mai as we come on a few days earlier. Lek got the message that her daughter highly unexpected had arrived to Chiang Mai. We arrived to the Chiang Mai Arcade bus station around 4 o’clock in the...Jump to full entry

Tuesday, 21 January. Soon after that Lek and I arrived to the Smith Residence, Lek left to see her employer a short time. My self, I stayed inside the room. I felt sick and very frozen. During the evening I listened on Swedish radio and I got the message that the Thai government proclaimed emergency laws in Bangkok and surounding provinces. = = = = = = = = = En kort stund efter det att vi ankommit till Smith Residence, så åkte Lek i väg för att träffa sin arbetsgivare en kort stund. Själv så stannade jag på rummet, jag kände mig sjuk och...Jump to full entry
Jan 11, 2014 - Chiang Mai.
Saturday, 11 January. We returned to Smith Residence at 19.00 o'clock, safe and well. Lek was a little bit tired, so she went direct to the room. I decided to go to the Saturday Walking Street, just a few blocks away from the Smith Residence. Saturday Walking Street i simular to the much bigger Sunday Walking Street. I walked the Wualai Rd down and up, without finding any thing of interest. = = = = = = = = = Vi kom tillbaka till Smith Residence vid 19-tiden. Lek var lite trött och gick till rummet direkt. Jag bestämde mig för att gå och...Jump to full entry

Saturday, 4. January, At 22.40 o’clock the Thai Airways flight TG 122 landed on Chiang Mai International Airport. Outside it was dark and the temperature was about 20°C. Chiang Mai is the final destination for my journey and now I am almost through. It is now 36-38 hours since I stepped up from my bed in my home in Falköping. I feel that it have been one very long day, from Friday morning until now and I am very tired. As usual my girlfriend Lek was waiting for me in the arrival hall. She had as usual arranged with transport to downtown...Jump to full entry
