Wednesday: The long awaited day of the Glacier Express. By the time we boarded at 11.30am in Chur, the day had cleared to a beautiful blue and in the panoramic coach it was quite warm. We first travelled through the steep Rhine gorge formed during the last Ice Age before starting the climb to Disentis. There a different engine took over which could use the cog system and take the train up to the Oberalppass at 2033m. We were totally surrounded by snow and massive peaks and it was breathtaking. Nov 1, 2008 - Exploring Sion

On November 1st I set off to Sion, an hour and a half train ride out of Geneva. The train ride was beautiful- snowy mountain tops, vineyards, valleys, cute Swiss villages. Daddy set up a vineyard tour for me at Gilliard wineries. Sion is in the Swiss canton of Valais- where the best wine in Switzerland is produced. At the wine tour, a very kind Swiss man showed me the "cave" or the winery. He also had me try over 10 wines! It was very interesting to smell and taste the wines and try to distinguish each flavor.
