Stage 19 - Andermatt to Meiringen Cool morning start today from Andermatt - much quieter now that all the Mountain Bikers have gone. The first 10km dropped us 600m to the town of Gröschenen where we had gone by train yesterday. At this point our route turned upward towards the Sustenpass an 18 km climb which averaged about 8%. Most of the way the road climbed steadily with few bends or turns so it seemed like a long drag upwards. Sep 24, 2016 - Let's get physical and do some training

Day 7 - 21 Sep Being in alpine terrain, the weather in Switzerland is changeable and somewhat unpredictable. Consequently, we have to be prepared to change our plans on the go and today we really needed to. The day was quite overcast when we set out from Lucern, although it did fine up a bit later in the morning as we arrived in Mieringen for our first excursion. Aug 18, 2016 - Cowbells under the Wetterhorn

Aug. 18, 2016 The oh so smooth Swiss Rail deposits us to the town of Mierengen at the start of the Bernese Oberland. We ride along with a retired German language teacher from Iowa who tries valiantly to teach us some useful Swiss German phrases. We're hopeless, and forget them all 10 minutes later. The Alps loom over us, but low rain clouds make it somewhat somber. Never fear though, the 40 minute bus ride up to our inn for the night at Schwartzwaldalp take us up up above those clouds into the stratosphere- there be some awesome craggy...
