We've had a fabulous week of relaxing and exploring! The house we're staying in is called "Casa Amalia" and long ago it was the village post office. Sven's father lived here for the last few years of his life and now Sven and Cristina use it as a vacation home. It is an old stone house on the main road in Loco and is as much a museum as a home. Sven's father was a doctor with the Swiss Red Cross and travelled all over the world so the house is full of interesting artifacts. It is a long, tall, skinny house with a cozy living room with fire...

Jul 7, 2013 - Ticino Hiking

Loco is a small village in the Onsernone Valley. There is one road going through the village with walking lanes shooting up and down the mountain from the road to the houses. The village has a cafe/bar, a small grocery store, an old mill and a museum. There are also small, family run vineyards throughout the valley. Hiking from Loco is great! You walk out the door of the house and follow the yellow signs to your destination. You can do loops that bring you back to Loco, out and back hikes or one way hikes where you walk to another village...
