May 28, 2011 - Mallorca to London
28th May Up at 6am to see if the bank websites will play ball, and thankfully they do. Cynthea decides to go for a quick swim before she has a shower, but she doesn’t want to carry a wet swimsuit. There is no one about, the neighbours aren’t home and the guys digging the hole in the backyard (water storage) wont be here for another hour, so there is no need for a bathing suit! Not long after getting into the water she is calling out to Tony, he thinks perhaps she got caught out, haha. But there is a wee mouse in the water with her, and she...Jump to full entry
May 26, 2011 - Canonge and Las Migas
24th May Claudia arrives about 1pm, and takes us to the beach at Canonge just along the road. The road there is sealed all the way, but very narrow and lots twists and turns as it winds down the steep hillside. Must be bad in the high season – cars are not covered by insurance! The water is crystal clear and we spend the afternoon snorkelling around the rocks. Tonight there is a concert in town, and Eduard drives us there as the bus wont get us there in time. We arrive before the 9pm start, but the tickets are sold out, so Pol buys up some...Jump to full entry
May 23, 2011 - Happy Birthday Pol!
22nd May A quiet day today, mostly spent reading by the pool. Still heaps of photos to edit and put up on the website, and we get a few done, but there is still a months worth to sort through. We have taken many, and it is a bit of a mission! We are having lunch at a friends restaurant in Palma. Trens (means Trains) is a theme restaurant, with seating like that of local trains, and model trains running around the place. There is a train track by our table and Tony wonders if they will bring some of the food out this way as the tracks go...Jump to full entry
May 21, 2011 - Formentor and Pol's party
Friday 20th May After a late breakfast we drove to the far north tip of the island, to a beach near Pollenca. Formentor is Pol's favourite, and it is easy to see why. It is a smashing day, blue sky, not a lot of wind, and hopefully not so crowded being a Friday. The drive takes about an hour, and the scenery as we approach is stunning. Sheer cliffs rise nearly 300m out of the sea. There is a lookout, but it is crowded, so we will visit on the way back. At the beach there are a few people about, but not too crowded. We have a picnic lunch,...Jump to full entry
May 19, 2011 - Esporles and Palma
Wednesday 18th May We are awake about 9am, and open the shutters (no curtains), it is a wonderful view from our room. Fruit and coffee for breakfast, and we potter about doing some laundry and bits and pieces. Carmelen goes out about midday, but she has made us lunch before leaving. After lunch Cynthea reads and Tony starts sorting more photos, then we walk into the village shopping centre about 1km away. We find a supermarket and buy some groceries. The prices here are much dearer, probably because it is a smaller store (sort of like a...Jump to full entry

Our roomie is out early again, and we sleep in as there isn’t much we can do today. Even though we fly out at 4pm we...Jump to full entry
May 5, 2011 - Mallorca and Rome
Wow! Where did the time go? I can't believe how long it's been since my last post. For those of you who were hoping for more...sorry. The last couple of years have been absolutely nonstop busy, but I'm hoping to have a bit more leisure time now, at least enough to post a bit more often. Jeanne and I, and Bob and Rena took a couple of weeks in Feb to travel to the Balearic Islands, specifically Mallorca. The weather was a little cool, but no snow at least. Very interesting place...not a traffic light in sight, but a million roundabouts....Jump to full entry
Dec 29, 2010 - La Granja.. more like La Waste of 24 Euros...
So first things first. Shawana is doing much better after her incident the other day but it is still definitely bothering her. She is being amazing and she is convinced that she needs to walk again to not ruin our trip but I am trying to tell her that after 8 months away, just spending time is the best thing that I could ask for right now! (Insert cheesy ahhhhs right now I know...) So yesterday was spent with RICE(Rest Ice Compression and Elevation) as the main goal. We watched a bunch of BBC and other assorted TV shows and then called it a...Jump to full entry
Dec 27, 2010 - Oops I did it again....
At least it isn't broken this time – I think. So we had to move from our little slice of heaven today. I truly fell in love with Soller. The town, the people, our comfy, comfy beds in the hotel and a guaranteed hot breakfast, it was fabulous. But like all good things, it had to end and we needed to move on to new adventures. We found an "apartment hotel" outside of Palma, that seemed like a good idea at the time, so we packed up and headed out. Really, we should have stayed in bed. We've been using a lonely planet book to help us figure...Jump to full entry
Dec 26, 2010 - Combat Climbing
Hello again everyone!! If anyone is still actually reading these, then I apologize for my ramblings and hope that between the horrible jokes and half decent pictures you stay amused enough to keep checking back in! Today is a sunny day. Today is still not a super warm day but today is a sunny day. We head off to the roadside crag that we had visited before in hopes of getting more than 2 very cold climbs in today. We got there and to our chagrin, everyone else saw that it was a nice and sunny day and decided to get out as well. Thankfully,...Jump to full entry
Dec 25, 2010 - Feliz Navidad!
Merry Christmas everybody!!!!! This is obviously delayed because it is not going to get posted on the day of but this will be a little treat for everybody once the holidays are over to be wished a very merry! Today started off a little slower than the rest just because of the locals bringing of holiday cheer into the wee hours of the morning. We definitely made it down for breakfast though because our hotel was closing down after breakfast and wouldn't be back open until dinner so free breakfast was not going to be missed! A funny little...Jump to full entry
