Nov 20, 2012 - St Lucia - Beware Street Hippos

Hi- Two nights in Durban. I'm trying to minimize my time in the big cities and see more of the small towns and countryside. But managing bus schedules make the stop necessary. It also gives me the chance to visit the old Railway Station and stand at the spot where Gandhi began the Non-Violence Movement when he was refused a seat in first class. I head up the coast to St Lucia, a small resort town surrounded by the southern edges of iSimangeliso National Park. The locals still refer to it as St Lucia Wetlands. Easier to say. The park became...

Jul 13, 2012 - From some time from the 4th to the 11th as the majority of the information got lost......,

Please excuse this form,as we just go to wifi and the beginning from the 4th to the 11th were lost ...... AHHHHHH the goodness of the Internet !!!!!!!!!! Here is what I was able to save , minus the 4th to the 11th ....... Still driving on the other side of the road is odd, but getting easier to bare. Aug 19, 2010 - St. Lucia Wetlands National Park

Jun 10, 2009 - St. Lucia

Saint Lucia Wetland Park is a world heritage site that encompasses a lake, estuary and coastline. Only an hour from Hluhluwe-Imfolozi, it was also a great park. We based ourselves in the town of St. Lucia since there was no available accommodation in the park. Luckily, it was not a far drive to the gate and we were able to spend a day in the park exploring tide pools at Mission Rocks, having lunch on the beach and spotting Rhino, dung beetles, hippos and other critters in the park. We also took a sunset cruise up the river and were able to...

Sep 4, 2005 - South Africa - St Lucia Greater Wetlands area

On our visit to St Lucia Kevin again took the opportunity to do a spot of whale watching, this time for humpbacked whales. Something was telling Becky to sit this one out so she did, and boy did that turn out to be a good thing! The 8 of us on the boat got absolutely soaked on the way out of the bay over the waves which were 6-8 feet high! This turned out to be the worse conditions than for the shark dive and even though we spotted a couple of humpbacks pretty quickly we only saw them for a second at a time before the next wave went over...
